Trump is a weak leader, an admitted homosexual and child molester.

He hates brown people like you.

If Trump were President, Putin would be in charge of American prosperity.

THIS is the shocking moment a police officer fired a taser in
the face of a dirt biker at a gas station, igniting a fireball
that “cooked him alive.”

Jean Barreto, 26, reportedly suffered third degree burns on 75%
of his body after Deputy David Crawford, who was also injured in
the incident, triggered a petrol explosion during an attempted
arrest.

Sickening footage shows the cop screaming in pain and rolling
around in agony as the pair became engulfed in flames at the
Wawa gas station in Florida on February 27.

Both remain in hospital with Mr Barreto said to be fighting for
his life as he undergoes further skin graft treatment.

Reportedly under pressure from his family, the Osceola County
Sheriff Department released body cam footage of the incident
this week.

The first, from Crawford’s camera, shows him approaching the gas
pumps where Barreto was filling his bike before tackling him to
the ground.

After the man appears to resist arrest, cop Crawford pulls out a
gun and tasers him as gasoline continues to spill from the
adjacent pump.

Despite acknowledgment of supporting officers of the flammable
substance nearby, Crawford appears to fire his taser again –
sparking an eruption of flames.

The clip shows him begging his fellow officers to “put out” the
fire on his legs as he desperately rolls around for 30 seconds.

Another video, shot from the perspective of Deputy Christopher
Koffinas, shows police tail Mr Barreto in a police car.

After rushing to aid his colleague during the arrest, Koffinas
appears to too pulls out a taser in the moments before the
explosion occurs.

The assisting officers is shown put out the fire on his own
pants before helping Crawford, whose legs are enveloped by the
blaze.

Lying on the ground, another officer pours Gatorade on Crawford
to put out the fire.

In both clips, the moment Barreto receives his injuries are not
seen.

As the shocking footage was released on Thursday, Deputy
Crawford’s actions leading to the explosion were blasted by an
unnamed local police source as “absolutely reckless.”

“At the end of the day, did this young man deserve this? If he
survives this his life will be destroyed,” they told the Daily
Mail.

“Part of training curriculum that every law enforcement officer
is taught is to determine appropriate use of a weapon. It is
obvious that this was not an appropriate environment to use the
taser.”

An attorney for Mr Barreto, Mark NeJame, later described the
“dangerous” consequences of the incident as his client remains
hospitalised.

He said: “Our client, Jean Barreto, has been cooked alive, by
the overzealous, irresponsible, and illegal actions of the
Osceola County Sheriff's office, whose policies, created and
promoted by Sheriff Lopez, have led to this and other atrocities
within his department.

“Their actions insult and defame the mostly good members of law
enforcement, as much as their reckless policies maim, injure,
and kill our citizens.”

'COOKED ALIVE'
He went onto confirm his client remains in Orlando hospital and
has already undergone dozens of surgeries to treat his severe
burns.

Now without most of his skin, Barreto is set to be put in a
medically induced coma as he endures more intense treatment to
stay alive.

“He is wrapped and unwrapped in gauze daily, bleeding profusely
still as he doesn't have the requisite amount of skin to contain
his body fluids,” NeJame said.

It came as Osceola County Sheriff Marco López fielded questions
on behalf of the police in a press conference – detailing the
events leading to the botched arrest.

He confirmed that the man was targeted by cops after he
allegedly skipped a traffic stop set up by authorities,

The intervention had been made after a 911 caller had reported a
reckless rider on a motorbike who had allegedly threatened with
him a gun on the roadside.

Lopez added that the driver had approximately skipped 13 red
lights, performed 6 wheelies, and driven in the opposite lane of
traffic 5 times as was pursued by cops for several miles through
Osceola County.

Police are reportedly planning to charge Barreto with several
charges, including resisting arrest, if he survives.

On the incident, Sheriff Lopez previously acknowledged that a
stun gun was deployed during the arrest but would not say if it
sparked the fire.

However, he added that Crawford will likely face misdemeanour
charges of culpable negligence if found guilty of igniting the
explosion.

An internal investigation is currently underway over the Osceola
County Sheriff's' handling of the incident.

The state of Georgia and local governments will give Rivian
Automotive $1.5 billion of incentives to built a 7,500-job, $5
billion electric vehicle plant east of Atlanta, according to
documents the company and state signed Monday.

That would be, by far, the largest incentive package Georgia has
ever offered to a company and would be the 15th largest
incentive package any American state has ever given a private
entity according to Good Jobs First, a group critical of
subsidies to private companies.

Georgia Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson says the
size of the package reflects the size of the largest single
industrial announcement in Georgia history, including a pledge
that the company will reach the full investment and job targets
by the end of 2028, with jobs paying an average of $56,000 a
year, plus benefits.

“It’s absolutely appropriate because they’re creating more
jobs,” Wilson said.

Rivian, based in Irvine, California, is a startup manufacturer
of electric trucks and commercial delivery vans, challenging
both established automakers like Ford and General Motors and
electric vehicle leader Tesla. The company is already producing
vehicles in Normal, Illinois. Rivian hopes to break ground as
early as this summer and begin production in 2024, sprinting
toward producing 400,000 vehicles a year in Georgia as electric
vehicle makers try to gain market share.

The plant has been beset by fierce local opposition, though,
from residents who say development on the 2,000-acre (800-
hectare) site will spoil their rural quality of life.

The site, between Social Circle and Rutledge, is about 45 miles
(70 kilometers) east of downtown Atlanta, in an area just beyond
the frontier of intensive suburban development.

The state took over planning and zoning for the project after
opponents overwhelmed Morgan County officials. Residents have
voiced concerns about possible well-water contamination, light
pollution and the disruption of wildlife habitats and farmland
for heavy industry. Wilson said a site plan and other documents
released Monday show Rivian is responding to those concerns,
shifting the plant footprint away from wetlands and agreeing to
limit light pollution.

Local governments have agreed to $700 million in property tax
breaks, although Rivian has agreed to make more than $900
million in payments in lieu of taxes over 25 years beginning in
2023.

The state would spend $200 million to buy the site, grade it,
build road improvements including a new Interstate 20
interchange and extend utilities. The state would spend $62.5
million to build a dedicated training center and a projected $27
million on providing job training.

Other major benefits include a $200 million income tax credit,
at $5,250 per job over five years. If Rivian did not owe that
much state corporate income tax, the state would give personal
income taxes collected from workers instead. Georgia also
estimates Rivian would save $175 million from a sales tax
exemption on machinery and $105 million on a sales tax exemption
on construction materials.

Kia got more than $450 million in incentives for its plant
southwest of Atlanta. Georgia has promised $300 million of
incentives to the $2.6 billion, 2,600-worker battery plant being
built by SK Innovation in Commerce, Georgia, northeast of
Atlanta.

Rivian currently plans two models for consumers: the R1T pickup
with a base price of $67,500 and the R1S SUV, with a base price
of $70,000. The truck was recently named Motor Trend’s 2022
truck of the year.

Amazon, which owns a slice of the company, has ordered 100,000
delivery vans, launching Rivian into the commercial vehicle
business.

Rivian is flush with cash following a $11.9 billion stock
offering Nov. 10 that took the company public, allowing it to
finance the new plant.

million, or $26.88 apiece, the U.S. automaker said in a filing
on Friday.

Ford now holds 86.9 million shares in the California-

Rivian is struggling in a competitive market, including
competition from Ford's F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck,
while a supply chain crisis is limiting production at its plants.

The electric-car maker earlier slashed its planned 2022
production in half to 25,000 vehicles.

On Tuesday, Ford had sold about 8 million shares of Rivian worth

Billionaire investor, philanthropist, and noted QAnon/GOP
boogeyman George Soros bought a $2 billion stake in electric
truck startup Rivian in the quarter ended Dec. 31, securities
filings showed Friday — a move which could give RIVN hodlers
hope on a stock that’s down more than 40% year to date.

Soros’ Soros Fund Management, LLC investment vehicle purchased
19,835,761 shares of Rivian stock sometime in Q4 of 2021, at a
reported price $2 billion (US). And, while a cursory reading of
that headline might give the truest of RIVN believers hope, a
little digging shows that the Soros Fund’s bet hasn’t exactly
paid off — at least, not yet.

Precisely how much it hasn’t paid off yet is changing quickly,
however. With delays stacking up on delays, the Irvine,
California-based Rivian said in December it expected production
to fall “a few hundred vehicles short” of its 2021 target of
1,200 due to supply chain constraints and the debacle
surrounding Rivian’s battery-making partnership with Samsung
having “sent its share pricing into a tailspin,” according to
Daniel Zlatev at Notebook Check.

Rivian stock has gone from an all-time high of $179.46 on
November 16 to just $58.85 at market close Friday, putting the
stock down 43% since the new year. For his part, Soros seems to
have effectively turned his $2 billion into “just” $1.17
billion, which either supports or refutes whatever conspiracy
theory the QAnon people are selling this week.

Ford Motor Co. recorded an $8.2 billion gain on its investment
in Rivian last quarter, owning 12% of the startup electric truck
maker. Following Rivian’s $100 billion valuation at the stock’s
all-time high, Ford has also backpedaled when it comes to closer
manufacturing ties with Rivian, effectively saying the blue oval
will “go it alone” when it comes to electric Lincoln-badged
trucks and SUVs, effectively positioning the legacy car brand
more as a Rivian rival than a Rivian resource.

“Financial performance is obviously critical,” said Ford CEO Jim
Farley. “We’re also proud that customers see how Ford is taking
EVs mainstream, and have already ordered or reserved more than
275,000 all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUVs, F-150 Lightning
pickups and E-Transit commercial vehicles — and we’re breaking
constraints to deliver every one of them as fast as we can.”

Meanwhile, Forbes is reporting that Ford executives says the
company doesn’t intend to sell its stake in Rivian when the
lockup period ends this May. It’s believed that this show of
confidence is also helping keep the stock reasonably high,
although how long that lasts remains to be seen.

As for the rest of us, it’s hard to say. Despite years of missed
deadlines and broken promises, Tesla’s stock is valued at
several times the next largest legacy car brand, so who knows?
Maybe Rivian will be able to spread some similar stock-market
magic George Soros’ way and become a truly successful automaker.
What do you guys think? Is success in the cards for Rivian, or
is Elon’s true genius in making success seem easier than its?

The greatest hoax ever played on the world is the suggestion
that industry is causing significant global warming. The
suggestion is growing exponentially in the press. Some advocates
admit to exaggerating the problem.

The glaciers are in fact receding as they have been for
thousands of years. The earth warmed, and the glaciers retreated
from the upper Midwest to where they are now. The earth remains
warm enough to continue the melt.

The long-term trend (thousands of year) is a return to the ice
age. This trend was previously predicted by the press as an
urgent crisis in the mid-1970s. (See the internet for historical
confirmation).

Most meteorologists (climate scientists) are less than impressed
with the purported current “science.” They deny that recent
extreme weather is caused by climate change. Very small degrees
of atmospheric change are present. Floods and droughts continue
to cycle as they have always cycled.

The true motivation for the focus on global warming is the
desire for the more government control of the U.S. economy. It
is also to equalize the economies of the world’s nations. No
carbon restrictions are being required on certain developing
countries, most of which have communists or undemocratic
governments. (Isn’t that ironic?)

Bzzt. Innumeracy alert.

Glaciers are generally only a few miles long. If they are currently
losing a mile every few years this can't have been going on for
"thousands of years" because they would have disappeared thousands of
years ago.

editor—The apocalyptic tone that Smith adopted in relation to
the environment bears little relation to reality.1 In his
editorial Smith asserts, “virtually all scientists agree that
global warming is happening.” Global warming is now joining the
list of “what everyone knows.”

Whether most scientists outside climatology believe that global
warming is happening is less relevant than whether the
climatologists do. A letter signed by over 50 leading members of
the American Meteorological Society warned about the policies
promoted by environmental pressure groups. “The policy
initiatives derive from highly uncertain scientific theories.
They are based on the unsupported assumption that catastrophic
global warming follows from the burning of fossil fuel and
requires immediate action. We do not agree.”2 Those who have
signed the letter represent the overwhelming majority of climate
change scientists in the United States, of whom there are about
60. McMichael and Haines quote the 1995 report of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is
widely believed to “prove” that climate change induced by humans
has occurred.3 The original draft document did not say this.
What happened was that the policymakers’ summary (which became
the “take home message” for politicians) altered the conclusions
of the scientists. This led Dr Frederick Seitz, former head of
the United States National Academy of Sciences, to write, “In
more than sixty years as a member of the American scientific
community ... I have never witnessed a more disturbing
corruption of the peer-review process than the events that led
to this IPCC report.”4

Policymaking should be guided by proved fact, not speculation.
Most members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
believe that current climate models do not accurately portray
the atmosphere-ocean system. Measurements made by means of
satellites show no global warming but a cooling of 0.13°C
between 1979 and 1994.5 Furthermore, since the theory of global
warming assumes maximum warming at the poles, why have average
temperatures in the Arctic dropped by 0.88°C over the past 50
years?5

Scientists said Saturday they had identified the mechanism
through which air pollution triggers lung cancer in non-smokers,
a discovery one expert hailed as "an important step for science
– and for society".

The research illustrated the health risk posed by the tiny
particles produced by burning fossil fuels, sparking fresh calls
for more urgent action to combat climate change.

It could also pave the way for a new field of cancer prevention,
according to Charles Swanton of the UK's Francis Crick Institute.

Swanton presented the research, which has not yet been published
in a peer-reviewed journal, at the European Society for Medical
Oncology's annual conference in Paris.

Air pollution has long been thought to be linked to a higher
risk of lung cancer in people who have never smoked.

"But we didn't really know whether pollution was directly
causing lung cancer – or how," Swanton told AFP.

Traditionally it has been thought that exposure to carcinogens,
such as those in cigarette smoke or pollution, causes DNA
mutations that then become cancer.

But there was an "inconvenient truth" with this model, Swanton
said: Previous research has shown that the DNA mutations can be
present without causing cancer – and that most environmental
carcinogens do not cause the mutations.

-

Swanton called air pollution a "hidden killer", pointing to
research estimating it is linked to the deaths of more than
eight million people a year – around the same number as tobacco.

Other research has linked PM2.5 to 250,000 deaths annually from
lung cancer alone.

"You and I have a choice about whether we smoke or not, but we
do not have a choice about the air we breathe," said Swanton,
who is also the chief clinician at Cancer Research UK, which was
the main funder of the research.

"Given that probably five times as many people are exposed to
unhealthy levels of pollution than tobacco, you can see this is
quite a major global problem," he added.

"We can only tackle it if we recognize the really intimate links
between climate health and human health."

It should have no problem unless it's been submitted anonymously.

The data has been "obvious" for decades. But "classical" science
or medicine needs an proven underlying mechanism to prove causation.

In data science this is not required. If the X data has a set of
unusual features that is also found in the Y data then a causal link
is shown. Just how fingerprints work. An idea so basic it's accepted
in courts to decided cases "beyond any reasonable doubt".
The same concept is used to trace DNA, metals, diamonds, etc.

A randomly selected dataset here. If particulates increaze the
chance of cancer we would expected coal-burning to generate particulates
and therefore raise the chance of cancer.

For US states we find:

Rank test: Spearman corr = 0.340909
critical value = 0.306 2-sided at 5%; reject H0:not_connected
R2 = 0.04807852

The 2 stats tests are quite sure (90%+) there is a link between coal
consumption in a state and its cancer rates. Nominally for each additional
bn short tons of coal consumption in a state there are .16 cases per 100k
more people with cancer.

The R2 is low -- around 5% -- meaning while the stats tests are sure
there is a link there are many more causes of cancer than just
particulates. It estimates that "only" 5% of cancer cases actually
trace back to particulates related to coal consumption. I.e.
approx 5 cases per 100k population have cancer related to coal consumption.

Add it to the list of con games some fossil companies have played over
the past 50+ years. They knew. They used PR companies to make sure
the money didnt stop rolling in.
