We've got less evidence to support theories of gravity

ahahaha... Fartin' Martin aka Scott Nudds cum Vendicar Decarian
got you prematurely exited, Roger. VD Scotty is right: "There is
<NO> evidence that the earth is warming." --- It's only the very
top of its surface that is undergoing a temporal cycle. Considering
that if you look at the earth the size of a (cold) billiard ball then the
oceans will have a depth of the water film that forms form the water
vapor that condenses onto it from your warm breath... So, your GW
is not big deal.... GW is nothing of fact nor consequence to get
exited about. --- However, what is to become excited about is the
money that can be made from selling fear over this like all those
guys are doing that you mention below. But you, as their enabler
and facilitator, like the rest of all you little green idiots, you will get
nothing.... ahahahaha.... except the bill to pay all those useless
permit charges, user fees, enviro surtaxes and other green shit
demands. Check the fine print on your utility and phone bills.
You'll be astonished whom you are feeding... for getting nothing
in return.... ahahahaha.... You are a mooch, Roger! The greenies
fuck you and laugh behind your back... all the way to their bank,
because they have "educated you".... ahahahaha... ahahaha...

Funny. :-)

One thing I've noticed is that people who are skeptical, which is of
course a good thing, tend to fail however, in their understanding of what is
at stake if they are wrong, if global warming is indeed occurring and
especially if it's origin has to do with human behaviors as hypothesized by
many scientists. The risks of being wrong and failing to do anything about
it may be extreme. Such possible risks go so far beyond anything within the
normal scope of human experiences that people simply cannot comprehend it.

It may seem trite, but understanding that the earth is indeed as a
spaceship, a life support system with finite energy and resources, including
the sun of course, but still part of a closed system, is a rational and
simple step toward appreciating what's involved and why flippant and/or
uninformed dismissal of global warming hypotheses could be a very dangerous
thing. Another aspect of the global warming debate involves an understanding
the effects of human behavior over a long period of time, learning to
appreciate or to even -care- as to what the consequences will be for our
children, their children and down the line. Such forward thinking is
unfortunately not a natural characteristic, but much like logic and the
capacity for acute reason, is only relatively common among the mature and
learned mind.

Partisan politics in general is an example of how primitive human beings
really are.

Why would anyone rational attempt to divide myriad and relatively complex
issues regarding public policy into only -two- simplified categories?

Every issue should be approached logically and according to the broadest
scope and most accurate information available.

Political systems used to arrive at decisions regarding public policy are
fundamentally and deeply flawed.

Liar. There is nothing but evidence for global cooling. The best record
we have si the satellite record and it shows the globe to be cooling.

It's a simple fact that the vast majority of the worlds scientists claim
that global warming is a myth.

God has given us this earth for us to use as a source of resources for our
assendence. God has not made a mistake and provided an earth that is too
small for that purpose.

Further, economists like Julian Simon have proven conclusively that the
worlds resources are actually infinite and therefore will last for an
eternity.

It is evidence of the true genius of God that natural resources are
infinite on a planet that is finite in volume.

No matter how Liberal cowards continue to whine about imminent warming
(some day), and destruction (today), we see nothing of the kind. In every
way the economy continues to grow, and Americans prosper and the environment
improve.

Liberalism is nothing more than pure treason against America, and pure
treason against God.

Those guilty of treason are worthy only of death.

"We seek to remove resources from the control of the state, thereby starving

"Throughout his term, Bush has implied tax cuts would starve the government,
paying for themselves by causing budget deficits that, in turn, would place
heavy pressure on Congress to lower spending." - Jeff Lemieux - Senior
Economist - Progressive Policy Institute.

"They have an agenda which is to starve the government of revenue. But in
order to get it through, they keep on having to pretend that the tax cuts
are affordable, and so they've been suppressing the likely cost of
everything, including the war on terror." - Paul Krugman - Economist.

I've read Julian Simon's book "Ultimate Resource," and I don't believe
he "proves" that the earth's resources are infinite, or that they will
last for eternity.

What Simon's argument mostly consists of is saying that human ingenuity
and human technological creativity are almost infinite. And that while
population growth and economic growth will no doubt create huge
problems in the future, history indicates that humans will respond
creatively to the problems and solve them -- making everything better
than before (presumably).

This is a stupid enough argument in itself, I believe. But it isn't
quite as stupid as maintaining that the earth's resources are infinite
and that they will last for "eternity."

By the way, Martin, you posted in another group a lot of supposedly
religious arguments justifying torture. Are you genuinely religious,
genuinely some kind of follower of the Religious Right?

I doubt it; I think you're writing parodies of their arguments. But if
you are, you must be aware that Christian, Muslim and Jewish
fundamentalism all predict the destruction of the world as we know it
on some upcoming Day of Judgment.

By definition, then, it is hard to imagine conservative Christians,
Jews or Muslims predicting that natural resources will last for
"eternity."

If the entire world order is supposed to be destroyed before God's
reign is ultimately established, presumably the natural resources will
disappear on the Day of Judgment, too - at least in their current form.

The Book of Revelation in the Christian Bible in fact predicts that
there will be a "new heaven and a new earth" created at the end of
time, and that those who are saved will then inhabit that new heaven &
earth (as citizens of the New Jerusalem) for eternity.

That's quite different from predicting that the earth's current
reserves of oil, coal, uranium and iron ore will last forever.
