jan 2024: record warm; 10 regions score #1/175: NOAA/NOAATEMP

NOAA has updated is NOAATEMP data-series to v6.0.0.

The new data shows Jan 2024 scored new record warm in 10 major regions
incl the NHem, SHem and Trpcs with tropical land exceeding 1.5C above
avg temps of only 40y ago (i.e. NOT simply above pre-industrial
temps). 5 regions were more than 1C warmer than the 1980s.

The NHem has become so warm that more than 1.9C above 1980s avgs NH
land only ranked 3rd-warmest. NH temp zone land was almost 1.8C above
baseline and that ranked only 5th-warmest in the 175 year dataset.

At the other end of the world parts of the Antarctic were near record
cold as the meltwater barrelling off the continent played merry hell
with the ocean surf temps close to shore. Further out, the greater
Southern Ocean saw record warm temps.

The Jan 2024 ranks for each major region in the NOAA data are as follows:
