Drug Smugglers arrested

The Royal Gibraltar Police, with the assistance from the Spanish
authorities have stopped a vessel carrying up to 830 kilos of
Cannabis resin, the second large haul in just a few weeks.

Although an official police statement has today not acknowledge the
assistance of the Spanish authorities, gibfocus was informed by
police officials that the initial presence of the vessel was
detected by Spanish monitoring system across the Strait.

With the information provided the local authorities took over
operations within Gibraltar waters and stopped the vessel in
question, which police officials today confirmed had come from the
Moroccan coastline.

In an official police statement an RGP spokesman said:

"As a result of a certain observations carried out by Royal
Gibraltar Police Marina Section Officers during the course of this
morning a Spanish registered pleasure boat crewed by a Portuguese
and Spanish national was intercepted by the Officers and escorted to
the R.G.P Marine Section Base. An examination of the vessel
revealed approximately 830 kilos of cannabis resin concealed within
the hull of the vessel.

The cannabis siezed was in transit from Morocco where its
grown to Spain where its shipped by lorry to the UK, so expect
to see people smoking sweaty socks near you.
