Someone in work wrote this lovely preamble to a script. Afore its
removed I thought I would post it somewhere. The only excuse for
posting it here is that it was written in Gib., which is a poor excuse.

#!/bin/bash
#
# This script is to compensate for somebody's mess. It is a hack, and is
# designed to solve the problem fast, not elegently.
#
# The alternative was to introduce some ugly code into the SFTP script.
# After putting so much effort into ensuring the quality of the code,
# I am not prepared to do this.
#
#
# This should probably be run as a wrapper script.
#
# This code is shit - it's meant to be shit, and unless we get proper
# specs, any future code is going to be shit too.
#
# SHIT SHIT SHIT
#
# I'm not going to add my name to this.

Speaking of which, I just read a story in VOX
which was also shit.

"the ‘1st of July Law' which was designed to give
protection to locals from the possible flood of EU nationals"

No it was designed to discriminate against non Gibraltarian
British ONLY.

However, it did not require wearing of union jack patches
to facilitate a speedy roundup to victoria stadium.

Otherwise it was shit from day one until it was repealed
I'm surprised anyone now cares to defend it, even the
Vox, a paper not fit for use in the smallest room.

True. But I guess you would get it worse being English in Wales.

Part of the problem comes from the past when Gibraltar had a
significant military presence and there was a distinct 'us' and
'them' with kids told they could not play with their friends
on a MoD estate and there were lots of functions for 'UK based
civilians' only, ie no locals allowed.

However, most Gibraltarians were not amused by the 1st July law
and it was a factor in the election. The campaign against it was
neither sustained or effective, but the election promise to
scrap it was quietly honoured, and any talk of bringing it back
is VERY stupid.

If 'Thesaurus' wants to help the GSLP he really should leave
it alone rather than try and whitewash something that was
coloured brown. It didn't affect me personally but I went
to the meetings, as did the special branch :)
