Can anyone tell me How do Spanish Customs deal with those that Drive
into Gib on an empty Tank and drive out with a full Tank. Is it worth
taking yr car into Gib to fillup or not with delays one can expect at
the crossing

Thanks in advance for your response to my question

AFAIK, they do nothing. Whether it's worth it any case depends on how much
fuel you burn in order to get to Gib and back, the price difference in fuel
costs, and on how much you value your time.

At one time some Sp had additional fuel tanks fitted to their cars in order
to make it more worth their while, while having to do the tirp less often.

Thanks for your response,

Well I am considering to get a Job in Gib, but living outside gib so
what I was trying to understand is what the Sp attitude is to filling
ones tank in Gib on a regular basis.

They arn't really concerned about the matter.

Given the size of a cars petrol tank and, due to driving, the limited
Spanish catchment area where it would be cost effective...

Note, I've no idea how close you plan to live to Gib. If its La Linea
(the Spanish border town), then most people would walk/cycle/scooter
accross.
The peak vechicular queues for crossing the border are in the morning
(travel direction: coming in from Spain) and in the late afternoon/
early evening (direction: going into Spain), this is a visible
representation of large numbers of Spanish workers crossing into Gib
for jobs.

As a result of this, a high percentage of people who live further away
in Spain, but work in Gib, leave there cars in the underground carpark
close to the border in La Linea, and then walk/cycle accross. Only
talking their cars in occasionally. There are public bus routes from
the border to the town centre and elsewhere once in Gib.

Thanks for that insight Darius very informative indeed,. Infact I was
hoping that I would be able to park close by the border. I have one
other question if anyone could help me on, regarding the border
crossing formality. If one is resident in Sp then one is issued with
an ID card for EU residents in Sp,. Can one use that EU resident card
to cross the border or am I obliged to carry my UK passport. On the
other hand can British Citizens from the UK get a Gib ID card if they
become resident in Gib which is the same as what is issued to those
who are native to Gib. If so, is the Gib ID card as good for travel
within the EU as a passport

Indeed you need not walk more than 50m into Gib when you are met by the
first bus stop. The No 10 bus displays a fare of 1 Euro - but I forget
whether this is a single or return fare to the city centre.

As far as I know, as a British national in spain you have
to carry your passport. You only get a Spanish ID if you
become a resident.

No.

Id cards are issued to all residents of Gibraltar, but only
the pink ones are valid as travel documents. Blue ones issued
to British citizens and other EU nationals ordinarly resident
are not.

The Gib authorities will be OK with it, and so should the Sp - it's their
issue after all. The ID cards issued to Gib residents differes from those
issued to Gib citizens. The pink one (to citizens) is an OK travel document
within the EU, not so sure about the resident-non-citizen card. If you're
going to live in Spain and NOT a Gibraltarian, you need not bother as you
won't be eligible for a Gib card in any case.

No, unless you are a Gibraltarian to get one you need to apply to be
a permenant resident its not automatic. However the good news is
unlike the proposed UK scheme all the cards here are issued free.

From what I understand one has to be resident for 25 years to get a pink
one, or marry a Gibraltarian/ be born here and so on.
