It looks like there is some progress on the International football
front

GIB OBTAINS ACCESS TO UEFA YOUTH AND WOMEN’S COMPETITIONS, SAYS ‘AS’
‘As’, the leading Madrid sports daily has intimated that Gibraltar
will be obtaining some form of membership of Europe’s football ruling
body UEFA, that will allow local youth and women’s teams to
participate in international competitions.

The article also quotes the recently re-elected GFA president Joey
Nunez as saying that the possibility exists of Gibraltar obtaining
full UEFA membership.
‘As’ said: “Nuñez declared that he is not authorised at present to
divulge the judgment of Europe’s Court of Arbitration for Sport that
will make the decision, although the GFA would like this to be made
public in the next few weeks.”
The newspaper adds that the GFA was hopeful of a favourable outcome to
the application for membership of UEFA.
‘As’ also quotes Spanish Federacion sources that expressed doubts that
Gibraltar’s application would ultimately be accepted by UEFA’s
executive commission, but stated that if Gibraltar was successful it
would only be able to participate in youth and women’s competitions.

Why is it "progress" if, to put it cynically, we are permitted to do only
that which Spain thinks it proper for us to do? It would be progress if
Spain were told to mind her own ******* business and not interfere in the
affairs of others. We should be able to join UEFA or not, or any other
organisation or body we choose on our own merits, not by grace and favour of
Spain.
