I see that Spain is up to its usual acts of hypocrisy in that it is
trying to stop a planned visit to Gibraltar by Princess Anne. I say
hypocrisy because the Spanish royal family recently visited its enclaves
of Ceuta and Melilla and the Moroccan government, who claim both Ceuta
and Melilla as integral parts of Morocco, complained to Spain about said
visits. Spain brushed aside the complaints and deny the Moroccan claim
to sovereignty. Whilst the Spanish claim that Gibraltar is an integral
part of Spain they deny that Ceuta and Melilla are integral parts of
Morocco and stated they are integral parts of Spain - despite the
Straits of Gibraltar separating them from Spain AND there being attached
to Morocco and not Spain. Spanish complaints about the visit of Princess
Anne whilst ignoring the visits made to Ceuta and Melilla by the Spanish
royal family are to me further examples of Spanish hypocrisy.

The UK government must not bow to the Spanish pressure and stop the
visit of Princess Anne. In fact they should send the Queen to Gibraltar
if only to piss off Spain but more importantly to show the people of
Gibraltar that Spain cannot have the homeland of the Gibraltarians
unless the people of Gibraltar want it to happen. And as they have shown
in massive numbers that they do not want that then the UK should tell
Spain to grow up, enter the 21st Century, put away Franco and leave the
people of Gib alone. And a great way to show Spain that is to send the
Queen to Gib.

I recently had cause to travel through Spain and was struck by how much
building work was going on, much of it coming from EU funds - and my
country UK is a net payer so I am paying for this - my thoughts were
'what does Spain want with Gibraltar as they haven't finished building
Spain yet?'

I agree entirely. The question I often ask myself is, what does a country
larger than the British Isles with 2/3 of the population of the Brit Isles,
need another 3 sq m for?

I hate to say it but what Spain suffers from is a severe case of greed.

Their very flexible planning laws invariably suit themselves. They will tell
everybody what they want to hear then do what the fuck suits them.

My family owns property in Nerja which had the misfortune to have a building
operation start up in front of it. despite promises to the contrary by both
the construction company and the town government, the resulting monstrosity,
4 years in the making not only blocks or view but is being stripped
internally and rebuilt because the hobbit sized apartments they built in it
werent selling. greedy fuckers.

Every English, Scottish, Irish and American person I ever meet in that town
always has a tale of Spanish fuckery to tell. They totally milk us. My guess
is they want to do the same thing in Gib.

It constantly pisses me off that the place looks like an eternal building
site wherever you go. It gives a very scummy impression. Mexico has more
class.

If it wasnt for the fact we are stuck with a house in Nerja we cant sell at
the moment we'd just fly straight into Gib and never leave.

Well the Gib folk have known this for decades, but no-one ever believed
us.Spain was seen as a jolly place, full of coinvivial souls who ate well,
lived easy, and allw a srelaxed and fine. So they conned many (including
unfortunately yourselves) into buying into Spain, when later on it's all too
apparent who they are. By then you're hooked. Amazing how their
retrospective application of planning laws and taxation always affects the
person who's emigrated from else where into Spain, never apparently the
Spanish-born.

Unfortunately, it is taking the personal experiences of tens of thousands of
Europeans to come to realise that what Gib has been saying all along is in
fact true.
