John Browns grave & Queen Victoria

Hi,

I'm in the Kamberg Valley, South Africa.

It is said that a grave at the head of the valley belongs to John
Brown, the bastard child of Queen Victoria and John Brown her gillie.

Can anybody shed any light?? Having looked online and posted to other
groups I note that there is a very strong against camp, for her having
a relationship with John Brown and a very strong for camp that even
suggests that she married him in secret.

Its an intriging story and quite why it should be connected with this
sleepy backwater I have no idea!

The conclusion reached on soc.genealogy.britain over the last 2 weeks is
that, especially knowing her views on childbirth, that she was closely
attended at all times, and the fact that she was over 50 during the "Brown
Period", it's wishful thinking on the part of the Tourist Office.
