as lieutenant-colonel of New Jersey volunteers in the battles of the
Jerseys, and his eldest son, Lewis, was killed at Germantown. He was
born in Ringoes, N. J.; died in Union County, Pa. Also No. 24328.
George Seitz (1755-1824) enlisted, 1780, in Capt. Charles Gobin's
company, Col. Joseph Hiester's regiment, and subsequently served in
guarding prisoners of war. He was born in Reading; died in Lewisburg,
Pa. Also No. 13760. John Bashore (1750-78) in 1775-76 was a member of
the Committee of Safety of Lancaster County, Pa. He was born in
Bethel; died in Northumberland County, Pa. Peter Swartz, a patriot,
maintained a fort on his farm for the protection of the settlers of
Buffalo Valley. He died, 1804, in Union County, Pa. James Moore
served, 1776, as a private in Capt. James Parr's company, 1st rifle
