Is there anyone out there with the surname "Howes" in England? My
mothers maiden name was Howes and I know that we have distant relatives
in England, and I would like to try to trace our heritage. I'll try to
get more information from mom regarding cities, dates etc.. but would
appreciate if anyone could just reply for interest, maybe we are related
somehow. Thanks

Hi Gina,
Try Essex, England, International Genealogical Index ( I.G.I. )
The surname Hows, House, Howe, Haues, Howese, Howes, Oase, Owe & Hoy are
all the same family.
Good luck David.

Gina,

I'm not from England but I have Howes ancestors that came from there in
the mid
1800's. They came from Aynho in Northamptonshire.

My wife's great grandfather was Richard Thomas Howes married to Maria
Priscilla Bishop. One son, William Thomas Howes (b 1882) married Alice
Boswell at Rochester Cathedral. He saw action in the Boer War, came to
the US in the early 1900's and d. in 1970.

Any connection?
