My grandfather Alois Ajdnik was Slovenian, and the latest twist in this
whole search was my great aunt; one of Alois' daughters, telling me "oh by
the way, I think he defected from the Austro-Hungarian army and may have
come over using a friend's name. . ."; something like "John Rezin".
Well, needless to say, I can't find record of any name like this either in
ellisisland.org database. Now my idea is to try to search the passenger
lists for the ships that came over from F. Missler of Bremen.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Regarding the search for naturalization records, how would I go about this?
I do have a copy of a document which purports to be a "Certificate of
Naturalization" for the US for Alois, his wife & family. It has a number,
and is dated 12/3/1914 & signed by a clerk of the district court of Crawford
county KS on behalf of the Dept. of Labor. I don't know what this might be
useful for cross-referencing to.
Do you have any ideas/suggestions?
