Hello. About 6 months ago I found census surname data on a federal WWW
server. The WWW forms allowed me to, amoungst other activities, find
out the ranking of the top 2000 (or so) surnames. Since then I've lost
my bookmark to this site. Has anyone seen this WWW site and can remind
me where it is?
TIA, Dave

Hi Dave!
The U.S. Surnames database, which shows rankings of surnames, can be
accessed at:
http://www.hamrick.com/names/index.html
The U.S. Census Bureau home page also has lots of interesting genalogy
"stuff":

Hapy hunting!

I used http://148.129.129.31/geneaology/www/namesearch.html
Just found out my surname is #626 out of roughly 88,000!

This site has links to census indexes from 1790-1890 and I believe has
1990 online.
