Hi Russell,
Aaron Burr's (1856-1836)only daughter, Theodosia Burr(Mrs. Joseph
Alston)(1783-1813) died in shipwreck. Her only son died as a child. So
Aaron Burr has no direct blood relatives outside of cousins. One of my
ancestors was a first cousin of Aaron Burr. It has been said that Aaron
had a son out of wedlock, but Aaron never publicly recognized him and no
one has tried to prove an association through genealogy as far as I know
(I'm no expert).

There is a book about the Burr family called "THE BURR FAMILY" with a
Genealogical Record from 1193 to 1902, written by Charles Burr Todd.
There are still some copies in libraries. I used one at the Denver, CO
main Library several years ago, it was in delicate condition at that
time. The Salt Lake City Mormon Genealogical Library has a copy on
microfilm.
The Burr Family has an interesting history, I think you will enjoy
learning about them.

Hi Peg--a note on Aaron Burr's illegitmate son--he was named John Peter
Burr and his mother was a Creole woman from Haiti. John P. Burr moved to
Philadelphia, where he became a prosperous barber and property owner. A
descendant, Allen B. Ballard, has written of the family in "One More Day's
Journey" (New York: McGraw-Hill, 1984). It is an interesting family. Reg

For a genealogy of the Burr family, later than the one mentioned in this
thread, see: Donald L. Jacobus, _Families of Old Fairfield, Connecticut_.

Aaron Burr's line is:

Jehu Burr, arrived 1630, d. Fairfield, CT
|
Jehu Burr, Jr.; m. Esther Ward
|
Daniel Burr
|
Aaron Burr, Sr.
|
Aaron Burr, Jr.

Paul Gifford (who branches off from Aaron, Sr.,'s older half-brother)
