Searching for birth, marriage, death information for the following
family names, mostly residing in Freetown, Middleboro and Dighton:

PITTSLEY (also as Pigsley, Pitsly, Pixsley, and Picksly);
REYNOLDS (also Runnels);
BRALEY (also Brailey);
WESTGATE (also Westcott);

I currently have 260 names/73 marriages listed and have been
researching the family for one month. I have other researcher's
work as a starting point so I have made good progress cross-
checking (and correcting) and compiling the family tree. I have been
reading this area for a few days, getting the feeling for what is
required.
I am trying to find the origin/entry point of the Pittsley name
(spelling ???) to the Freetown,Bristol,Massachusetts area.
I believe it started with Robert Pittsley/Hannah Paul in Dighton?,
both born about 1690. I have no ancestors for either. Family
traditions hold that two Scottish brothers(youths) were pressed into
service on an English ship, who both jumped ship at the American
colonies (Ref. Robert Pigsley of Dighton and his family by Elaine
Corbin Artlip, 1979).
I welcome any volume of suggestions or resources either posted here
or email'd to me at [ pitt...@tiac.net ] with a subject of
Genealogy:Topic. I am using microfiche copies of the original
handwitten town records, as well as the yearly b/m/death indexes, so I
find a new person/missing information at each session at the library
or historic society.
I am using Brother's Keeper for Windows v5.2 on my laptop. I have
not found any useful resources on the Internet to date, other than the
alt.genealogy type newsgroups. -- Sorry for the long post. I wanted
to tell the whole story in one message. --
