this is my first message to a genealogy blog please excuse my errors.
I am doing research in the Johnston family of Scioto county, Ohio and
the Packer family of Centre county, Pennsylvania.

I would like to contact any body who is doing research in either of
these two families.

thank you
Merle Johnston (California}

This is not a blog, and two surnames is much bigger than two families.

Now that the nitpicking is out of the way, go to
http://rootsweb.com and look for "message boards"
near the top of the page. From there, you can go
to a message board devoted to a particular surname,
or one devoted to a particular county.

I'm not saying you won't get help here, but you'll
find a lot more over there.

Merle, I coordinate over 100 Johnston-and-variants Cousins. We are connected by our Y-DNA and/or documentation. If you have a living male Johnston who is willing to do his Y-DNA test with FTDNA, we may be able to help. Only this past year we were able to prove that we are descendants of the ancient Clan Johnstoun Chiefs. About 40 of us are descended from William of Gretna and of Newbie.
