I'm not sure if this is still active or just full of spam, but if there
are any fans of x-com the great... let me know if you've experienced
this problem...

The image continues off the monitor to the right and bottom, and I
can't resize my screen to fix. I'm running Win98, 800 mghz. Is it a
monitor problem, or is it software?

I'm having the same problem, but in DosBox under W2k. I can get it right by
repeatedly switching from windowed operation to fullscreen.

I still play XCOM. At least once a month. I am a dinosaur.

I'm still playing Terror From The Deep and UFO Enemy Unknown in Win XP Pro
SP1 with the XP Patches I found online and not in DosBox or anything like
that.

The first time I played the game I had to use the monitor button controls on
the front of my 17" Iiyama Vision Master Pro CRT to reduce the screen size
to fit as the game runs in a 'DOS mode' under XP. The buttons on the front
of my monitor access the menu controls for image adjustment such as 'move
horizontal/vertical left/right/up/down' and also 'resize image' so it was
easy to shrink the image to fit on screen.

The X-Com games are brill and I'll be trying to get Apocalypse running under
XP soon. I understand from the forum topics that this definitely needs
DosBox to run it properly.

This sounds like the frequency is out of range.
Usualy the horizontal refresh is from 60-85hz
but if the viertical rate is at a strange setting this issue happens.
and nothing you do to the monitor can fix it.

It's been a while sense I messed with 98. but if the driver configs are
simialr to xp you can set the alowed refrash ranges at each resolution
in the monitors driver ini file.

I use this to set fix dox box from displaying the black bars at the top
and bottom.

Check the device manager for the deails of your monitr and if you can
find the ini file in question you can usualy modify the refresh rates
and reboot.

Sorry I cant be more detailed.

Okay, so this is weird. The old dos version I bought when the game
first came out, works fine, no bleed, no nothing. (It's super-fast, and
for some reason moslo makes the computer hang and not do anything, but
it looks fine.) It's the windows version from the collectors edition
that bleeds over...
