Well, for one thing, during the spaceflight mode, when I hit alt + o and
look at screen resolution, neither VGA nor SVGA is selected (the detail box is
set to highest). When I select SVGA, and hit save, and okay, the screen is
exactly the same, and when I go back to the options menu, neither box is
selected again. Also, I have the cd-rom version, so I do know what the SVGA
display is supposed to be like, and since the DVD gameflow screens are in a
visibly lower resolution, I'm assuming it must be VGA. Any ideas on how to
get SVGA working?
Play around with alt-1, alt-2, alt-3 and alt-4. You may have to use
alt-shift-x if you're using an azerty keyboard.

This is where they got SuperVGA, SuperUltraVGA, SuperUltraUltraVGA, etc.
Then they settled on a standard for SVGA (ie: VESA).
