I noticed 'Tales from the Trails: Mexico Sourcebook' mentioned on the
non-official White Wolf coming attractions guide
(http://www-ece.rice.edu/~rickj/FAQ/WHEN.html).

Is this accurate?

I'm pretty sure that the writer posted to the group a couple of months ago and
said it had been canceled. Fact, I believe the entire WW:tWW has been
discontinued (which is too bad, since I really liked the setting.) Might be
wrong, of course.

Last I heard, it was on the Wild West Schedule before the line was
discontinued by White Wolf.

The line has since (or perhaps before then) been handed over to Arthus along
with Changling: the Dreaming.

It was likely rescheduled (albeit at a later date) since then.

Yep.

I had contracted James Moore for the book back when Wild West was still
a vital part of the White Wolf line. The line was subsequently retired,
but picked up by Arthaus.

Long story short: Mexico's a go.

Justin

P.S. I believe it's being developed by Ethan.

good. : )

I like WW:tWW.

and for those with TNT, I think you should try to catch "Purgatory". A
bunch of bank robbers end up riding into Purgatory after a failed
heist when they are fleeing through a sandstorm. When they come upon a
town, a rather nice plot unfolds. Despite the happy ending.

Me too. Despite being beset by problems, some editorial (the choice of material
in the core rulebook making Frontier Secrets and Wild West Companion pretty much
necessities for play), some unforseen (Deadlands challenging for the same
market), I'd like to see the game survive. Good to hear that a new product is on
the cards.

My only problem is with the Arthaus imprint idea. I remember when Games Workshop
farmed out Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay to its Flame Publications imprint which
inevitably caused the death of that game until its resurrection by Hogshead
Games. I hope that doesn't happen to Changeling and Werewolf: the Wild West. I'd
rather see the games farmed out to small independent companies than to an
imprint which will have unreasonable budget strictures asked of it as GW did of
Flame.

Jim.

Ya know, I didn't like modern-day werewolf, and though I love the old-west
setting, I never bothered with Werewolf: Wild West. But if that sourcebook
is a good one, I might buy it anyway. Down here in Tucson, Mexican culture
is all around and it's absolutely fascinating. If done properly, it could be
absolutely incredible.

If done improperly, of course, it's merely par for the course.

Ooh, I've got one.

Net Pundit (New Background)

Net Pundit is a twisted form of Status, but rather than being predicated
on merit or social ability, it relies on ignorance, limited cogency and
prolific posting. Net Pundit is a tricky Background, as it comes into
use only in cold, dark rooms lit by CRT monitors and far from other
people, who often mock Net Pundits' physical declivities or inability to
communicate face-to-face.

* You know your opinions are, in truth, facts.
** You loiter in chatrooms and newsgroups, spouting incendiary screed in
order to garner the attention your parents never gave you "IRL."
*** You have adopted a self-indulgent or paraliterary online handle.
**** You post followups to others' ideas immediately, going for the
"quantity over quality" and because, what the hell, it's not like you
have anything _real_ to do.
***** You have put behind you such pointless trappings as courtesy,
comprehension of the topics you discuss, understanding that others'
ideas are equally as valid as your own, and the ability to distinguish
connotation from denotation.

NOTE: Characters acquiring the Net Pundit background should adjust their
Perceived Human Worth by multiplying their Actual Human Worth by the
level of Net Pundit they have achieved. After all, they know how much
they contribute to the matter at hand -- it's everyone _else_ who's
stupid.

Didn't you make a similar statement in the Giovanni book? Are you saying
that the poster used a disclaimer because of the NG's perceived opinion of
him before now (IOW he seems like a bigot) or because he's protecting
himself from morons (like you felt you had to)?

I didn't write them, nor did I work on them, so I feel no particular
compunction to comment there.

My Giovanni book didn't attack someone for (incorrect, BTW)
insensitivity and then proceed to be insensitive. It was written from
the point of view of an insensitive character, and I included the
disclaimer to make that plain.

Il Santo then came after me decrying the book as insensitive (hmm...
must not have read the disclaimer, but then, I suspect he doesn't read
everything on which he comments, as he has stated in other threads).
After he slandered my book, he then proceeded to do the exact same
thing. That's either stupidity or double standard, and the Saint isn't
stupid.

Additionally, I'm none to enthusiastic about the double standard,
either. Just because I do this as a profession doesn't mean I have to
take the abuse of every filth-dwelling cretin who fancies himself a
Johnsonian wit. Any individual is entirely capable of liking or
disliking any given book, and that opinion has no quantifiable relation
to a book's quality. If you said, "Book X sucks because I didn't like
it," I could reply with equal validity, "You suck because I don't like
you."

Enough of -that-, Mister Achilli.

I said that I had not read all of Vampire Revised. Later, I specifically
noted that I hadn't read the prose bits at the beginning, but that I had
read through all of the systems changes. If you continue to hold that in
the setting information there are important systems caveats, then I -do-
apologize. However, I was writing an essay on problems I found with the
systems, not problems I found with the setting. I didn't write "oh, and
having the Koy-djinn popping in in the west is stupid" and then say "I
didn't actually read that part, I just made an assumption". It's the
difference between pointing out a mathematical error without having
actually been on a train leaving from Boston at 2:30 am going at
fifty-five miles an hour.

It was parody, Justin. I was parodying insensitivity, I was parodying
the need for disclaimers, and I was parodying immediate accusations. I'm
pretty sure that two of the three responses 'got it', unless Ethan and
Corley were hiding their pain. I'm sorry that you took what I said so
seriously. Giovanni clanbook? Not my favorite, but I don't fault it
because I don't like the way it portrays Italians.

A combination of getting to sleep in and eating lunch at the delicious,
balm-for-the-soul Monterrey restaurant just around the corner. The
combination of warm, light chips and tasty salsa, followed by honest
Mexican fare, is enough to assuage the inner torment that wracks the
