((OOC: Point of order! Greg was fast asleep before the wooden floor
was turned into a mirrored floor, as per this post:

Jack is rinsing the dust out of some coffee mugs. "Unusual? Nah.
Your brain probably registered the sound of me playing _Disgaea 2_ on
my laptop while you were asleep. That's a weird-ass game, but
addictive as hell."

Jack laughs. "Interesting is a relative term. Better to say that
they're guaranteed to be 'odd'."

He pours himself a cup of coffee and looks expectantly at Bain.

After Jack finishes tidying up behind the bar....

((OOC: Which doesn't take any time at all. Over the course of this
thread, every character that's wandered in and out has helped clean up
the place, so I imagine the Pub is practically spotless.))

....and pours himself a cuppa joe, he'll mosey over to where Greg's
sitting.

"Do you play cards, Greg? I've got a couple of packs in my bag if
you're interested in a game or two."

Jack will take note of the PDA, but he doesn't comment or show any
particular interest.

"Sure. Might make for a nice break from the doom and gloom stuff
before. Not for money though - I didn't... ummm... leave home with
much more than pocket change."

Gregory finishes off the last of his sandwich and starts scooping the
miscellaneous stuff on the table into a small bag he pulls from
somewhere under the table. He starts whistling quietly in an
absentminded way as he drops stuff into the bag.

Gregory pauses to scratch an itch on his neck and in a very subtle way
the music shifts somehow.

((OOC: To catch the shift, roll against Performance (music of some
sort). Gregory rolled three successes to hide the music shift.))

((OOC: Mostly internalized magical effect taking place - Augmented
aura sight that includes the detection of active supernatural effects
and the residue of same in the auras surrounding people and objects.
All nine of the standard Mage Spheres involved. Six dice and a point
of quintessence spent and checking both Bainram and the entire Pub -
Base die rolls: 3, 5, 9, 5, 9, 2 ))

((OOC: Which ruleset is in force? The musical augmentation to the
magical effect either added four successes or brought the difficulty
down by four in case of anti-magic. Before applying the quintessence
point which also has different effects in different rule sets.))

((OOC: I have a pretty good idea what Gregory picks up from Jack, but
what does he pick up when he looks at Bainram and/or the rest of the
Pub? Note - One thing Gregory would both look for and recognize is
Wyrm-taint and it's near relatives.))

"You in, Mr Bainram?"

((OOC: Trying to act casual like nothing unusual is going on.
Manipulation and Fast-Talk dice get me: 8, 8, 4, 7, 6 ))

"Well, no one says we have to gamble for money. We can probably find
something around here to use as chips."

Jack goes over to his bag and pulls out two decks of cards. One is a
traditional 52-card deck, the other a Rider-Waite tarot deck. He sits
back down at Greg's table.

"What would you like to play? I've got a couple of standard Vegas
decks, of course. I also have a tarocchi deck, but I've only ever
played the four-player version of French tarot, although I understand
you can play with three people."

((OOC: I can't find Jack's character sheet right now--this is what I
get for 'cleaning up' the house--so I'm assuming he misses it.))

((OOC: I've been using _Mage: the Ascension 2nd edition_. That's the
ruleset that was used by players in this thread before it petered out a
couple of years back, so I assumed we were still using it.))

Jack opens the Vega deck and starts shuffling. "What's the game, boys?
Do we want to start with that American classic, five-card draw poker?"
