The game is Velmad and it is currently focused on XVIII and XIX
centuries. It is a turn based game but playable in web using any
browser. It is a real wargame, it simulates a miniatures wargame
(don't get wrong by the web thing) but it doesn't need of a master who
receives all the movements from players, make turn results and email
players again.
Players give orders to their ships, each player at any hour of day and
when all players have done it, the system calculates the new turn, all
the simultaneus actions and movements and shows the new map. It is
similar to playing by email, but faster. Of course It doesn't compares
to live playing in a big table and with real miniatures but something
is something.
Velmad has a great active community of spanish speakers players. We
have started game number 55! We have a ladder system, a championship
running, and other games only for fun. But now we want to show the
game to players who don't speak spanish. I think it is a very good
idea to have players from other countries and learn from them. They
can contribute with knowledge about their countries navies and their
vision of history. Finally, it is always interesting chating with
people who have the same interests and hobbies.
Please, give it a try.
