However, we rode the whole length and there is no bridge across. There
is a way to squeeze around at the northern end, and if you go south, you
have to go through some mobs, then we were able to get up into an
alliance town there to open a flight point and travel on the other side...
If you follow the coast south from ratched you can cross the chasm where it
meets the sea. Of course this is easier as alliance, as the keep there is
not so fond of horde characters :-)
But if it can be done on horse, it should be feasible on foot.
Not sure about any other places where this is possible.
Cheers

Or, you head toward Stonetalon from N Barrens, take the high road (on
the left), and follow it E-SE and it winds down into Southern
Barrens. This is the path that horde questing follows to lead toons
into Southern Barrens, so not as feasible for low level Alliance,
though 80's should have no issue (but may flag).
There's a really long Zeppelin ride from Orgrimmar to Thunder
Bluff that gets you accross without any trouble.

You can cross on either end. Either at the coast, or at the Stonetalon
Mountains entrance.

I rode down to the shore and passed there.
Strictly speaking it flies around the rift. But walking out through
Mulgore does indeed place you on the other side.
