I mentioned a few weeks ago about a Gruul’s PuG that pretty much
bottomed out, better yet it did bottom out. Well last night we tried
again and I must say it was much better, not perfect but we did down
both bosses.

First pull on the King someone couldn’t keep the mage tank up and the
next thing I know the main tank who I and another are healing is now a
sheep. Back to the drawing board.

Second pull was going very well, two ogres down. The main tank is
tanking over near the far doorway that runs towards Grrul and he got
knocked back into the door, the king followed and I watch two adds
come out through the door and nobody in there had ever seen that
happen before. The drawing board is returned to.

Third pull the main tank moves to the usual location that he likes and
this was a good spot as I was also able to pop some heals on the mage
tank. Still somehow things did not work I think Kiggler was knocking
his tank into Krosh. The drawing board beckons.

Finally on the fourth pull we down everything and it seemed so easy
that time. Kiggler is in tanked where he should be, in addition to
healing the main tank I pop a few heals on the mage tank, Blindeye
dies fast, the Felhounds are controlled and this battle was a
hootenanny festival, yee hah!

I have to say that between every pull we lost someone to the raid and
it was mentioned each time that the quitter appeared to not have the
gear, so each time we did pick up something better.

Onwards to Gruul.

First pull, we lost too much DPS on the first shatter. Zoots Alors! We
take the wipe and regroup. Again someone quits but we get a quick
replacement.

Second pull, again we lost some DPS on the first shatter but continue.
Then we lose some healers and again some more DPS but we continue the
fight. The last 6 or 7 times I been there I have found the wherewithal
to keep alive for that entire fight. All the hard study and hard work
paid off and the right choice of gear always helps also for that fight
– STAMINA FTW!! We are down to one tank and we make it through 17
growths before the wipe. The tank is praising the job that the healers
are doing and is amazed that he lived that long. Again the DPS was the
issue as we did not have enough for the entire fight. Gruul was at 24%
on growth 17 and the wipe but the healers were a leetz cruw! So we
become determined that the DPS shall survive and we shall win.

Third pull was the charm. After three shatters we lose our first two
and then keep going strong. I don’t think another died until something
like the 12th growth, then an occasional death here and there and
Gruul is one big daisy pusher upper.

Nobody needed the T4 pants and I did not need them for healing but I
did obtain the token for the offspec piece only because nobody else
needed or wanted them.

I must say Gruul’s PuG can be gruuling but we prevailed that time.

It was a fun and fanciful night in Gruul’s

OH! OH! OH!

It's not uncommon for this to happen while a group is learning the pull
positions. Never, ever stand with your back facing that hallway, or within
30 yards of where the patrol turns around.

It is also quite common for the tanks on Olm to get deathcoiled into toasty
death range of Krosh if they don't have a warlock doing backup taunt duty
with one of the hounds. Olm needs to be kept close to the near wall at all
times by any means possible.

Grats. When you do Maulgar right, the whole thing is over with in a few
minutes and is ridiculously simple. It's all about setup.

One thing that people seldom seem to do is stand on the rocks, or behind
the little alcoves when a shatter is coming. There really is no reason at
all for ranged DPS to ever get thrown at stomp/shatter time, if they give
themselves 10 seconds to find a refuge. And Gruul is all about the DPS
surviving. *
