And, although we finally killed him, I was one of the few people
that completely failed to kill my Inner Demon, so I was wondering
if any holy priests have any tips for this fight?
I made sure I had plenty of +spell damage; with a mixture of healing
& damage gear (swapping in a good dps weapon & offhand for the demon
phase, just in case I got my inner demon), I manage about +500 spell
damage.
Last week I tried my normal DPS spells; Mind blast, SW:P, followed by
lots of Holy Fire.
This week I tried lots of smites, but found that my demon was slowing
down my casting by interrupting, and a Shield didn't seem to last very
long. Out of the 2 attempts I had, once I got him to about 10%, the
second time was about 20%. Most disappointing.
So, any tips? Should I use fear, for example?
I could really do with a practice mode ...

i do not play a holy priest but i used to be a raidleader trying to get all
of our weak people through the demonphase (holypriests, restoration druids,
defence tanks)
first of all, everything that helps should be considered, we had druids
buff thorns on everyone right before the pull.
you should do fine with 500 spelldamage, if you dont take a little more
(600 is also pretty much ok)
you shouldnt worry about gimping yourself with less healpower because if
everyone knows how to avoid the ww-dot its really not an intensive
encounter to heal.
group composition can help alot, having a pally with concentration aura
does help, i'd say, without the paladin go to 600 spelldamage. if you have
one you should defenately be fine with 500.
dont waste time healing yourself. when you get a demon its usually
advertised though raidwarning. other healers should heal you and help you
save your own time on doing damage.
be cautios with fear, sometimes the demon can run inside a wall or tent and
so be out of sight, which will mean you wont make it.
common knowledge should be, that the demons get extra damage from nature,
holy and arcane schools of magic.also that the demon spawns with your
actual hp, so buffing yourself with healthfood will make it harder for you
to kill your demon in time (thats actually the point why defensive tanks
have great problems dealing their demons)
hope this helps

While I've never done this fight I'm in my guild's priests channel, and
when they were learning the fight the general view was that it was better
to take the PoF buff *off* to make it easier to kill the demon, same
reasoning as with the buff foods :-)

Tried this for the first time last night too. Healing for this fight
seemed very easy so I'd just suggest getting more damage gear.
Our preists found fear to be a Bad Thing(tm) due to demons going into
walls.
I had about +450 damage and I needed more, think I'm gonna aim for 600
next time we try to make sure.
I'm a resto druid btw.
Come 2.3 this fight will be easy mode for healers I guess.
> Come 2.3 this fight will be easy mode for healers I guess.
right with approximately 1/3 of +healing will additionally be +damage, a
healer with 1.8k healing will have around 600 spelldamage anyway.
this fight is going to be easier due to this either way. (one could
consider taking one healer less)

This is not the case anymore. They currently spawn with around 11k hp
regardless of your own HP, so don't click off fort...
Some tips found on the WoW forum:
1. Some spelldamage (400+) gear, and preferably a nice Use: increase
spelldamage trinket. Should be trivial once 2.3 goes live.
2. Concentration Aura. This is really important. Can be done without
but becomes too much a thing of luck...
3. The demons are vulnerable to holy, arcane and nature damage. Spam
Smite, nothing else. Do not shield or heal yourself while fighting the
demon, do not cast SW:P.
They can be feared, but fear can also send them out of Smite range...
4. Bind your Smite spell to an easily reachable hotkey, and your damage
trinket as well. Every second counts, it's important to start dps'ing
right away.
5. Shadow Protection & Inner Fire. The demons do quite a bit of shadow
damage with their bolts. Make it easier for other healers to keep you
up.
6. You need groups of 3-4 healers that can cover each other in case 1-2
of them get Inner Demons. There's no harm in bunching up in Demon
phase.

get more spelldamage :)
or get some trinkets with "spell damage on use".
you might also try elixir of demonslaying, although I'm not sure if it
works against these demons.
complete the quest line out of SMV with the Illidari shard stuff (search
for David Waine)

try doing damage/duel against someone just auto-attacking you. Maybe
with a healer on you so it's close to real.

nice idea, thorns is nature damage so profits also

shaman totem with + spell damage can help also

this has not been true for a long time, they now all have a fixed HP
somewhere between 10-11K
