Macro question: Can I make it target my focus target?

Hey all,

I need a bit of help with a macro for Tricks Of The Trade. I have one that
works so that I don't have to switch targets, just hit the macro and keep
beating up the boss. However, it requires me to put in the name of the tank
before it works.

I was thinking, is it possible to make a macro that would just use my
current focus target, as the macro's target? i.e. I go into a random
dungeon, select the tank and set focus on him, then the macro takes care of
the rest. Would that be possible - and how?

TIA

Perfect, just what I was looking for. It really looks a lot like mine, I
just didn't know it was enough to put in 'focus' instead of the name. Silly
me, I thought it would be more complicated :)

Guess that also means nobody can make a char called Focus - that would mess
with a macro like that, no? :P

I have something like that with my hunters' misdirection. I found it on
wowwiki, IIRC. If I have no focus, the misdirection is on my pet.

Hehe, that is a good point. I'll need to try creating chars named "target",
"party3" and "pet" :-)

Cheers

I do something similar, but doesn't require me to set the tank as a focus:

/cast [target=targettarget] Tricks of the Trade

This will ToTT to whomever the mob is targeting, which should be the tank.
Of course this fails miserably if someone else pulls aggro, so I'm careful
to keep an eye on the target-of-target display when I use it.

I've got a similar one for my rogue and hunter (ToT and MD) but they
rely on having the tank as the party lead, which some people don't
want to give up and promote the tank. Whenever I'm lead, I say
"Changing lead to tank for my MD macro" or something similar. Mine
uses [target=party1]

Need to be *very* careful, becuase if you do accidently misdirect threat to
that guy who just pulled aggro, you just made it that much harder for the
tank to get it back. :)

(I know you realize this, but I thought I'd make it clear to anyone who
doesn't.)
