I'm having an argument with a friend about how you pronounce Kali. Do you
pronounce it like collie? Or like callie? I didnt feel like posting to the
kali NG because I never read it and im not subscribed to it.

If I am right, the name of the Indian goddess of healing and
distruction is pronounced (kha:li). The pronounciation is nowhere near
either "collie" or "callie". Those are fine names of dogs, but Kali is a
whole other thing.

It is correctly pronounced as : Caa-lee.
Kali being the name of the fire-breathing Goddess of Wrath in the Hindu
culture.

Kha:li sounds just like callie. If you want my thoughts. Call it what
you want. How do I play on it thats what I would like to know?

Say it as if you're Japanese _ KA - LI

That's how I do it!

Not "kha:li". Its "ka:li". I am not sure if you are using the 'kh' to sound
like the german 'ch' (as in Bach. Its not pronounced that way.), but the 'h'
sound doesn't come in into it at all. 'Kaalee' is what the Indian goddess is
correctly pronounced as.

Kali is pronounced when using Latin pronunciation.

K as in (k)ite.
A as in F(a)ther.
L as in (l)ike
I as in L(ee)... long e sound.

It is two syllables Ka'- li with the accent on the first syllable.

I have always assumed that it is pronounced "Ka-lee" (long a) as in
the goddess of destruction Kali.

I called the office the other day and they answered the phone with
"Kah-lee" Yes, Kah-lee is the Hindu goddess of death that was featured in
Indiana Jones and the temple of doom

Doesn't Kali got an own newsgroup, if it does, why don't discuss this
there?

Still, if Kali has an newsgroup, which it has, why not discuss non
warcrafty discussion there, surely you must agree that "how to pronounce
Kali" is not a Warcraft topic.

Maybe you should try registering one?

That has nothing to do with this. Even if i pay for Kali, I would not give
shit about how to pronounce Kali.
