I am just curious, is it possible to play modem games with warcraft 3, i
mean just dialing up a friend's modem and playing, not over battle.net (my
connection is too slow only 56k modem in Australia!) and not over tcp/ip??
Thanks!

1. Get LanCraft. Do a search in Google.com. I'm sure you can find this easily by typing "Lancraft
Warcraft 3"
2. Make sure you have ICQ/MSN etc with your friend to co-ordinate this easily.
3. Determine your friends IP address (if it is dynamically assign). You can also search google.com
to find links that your friend could use to find his IP address. Since you're going to connect to
him, he must inform you his IP address.
4. Ask your friend to create a "LAN game" and wait for you. Routers/firewalls are best to be
disabled temporarily to isolate possible problems.
5. You simply use Lancraft, typing in his IP address in the box provided, start / launch WarCraft,
select LAN play and voila.. :-)
(Haven't really tried it on dial-ups but it seems to be no problem for ISDN with Fixed IP.
Theoratically speaking, it should be the same, whether its on fixed ip or dynamically assign.)

YOu need win XP to do this?
-LTP
:)
How does one go about this?
Learn the OS. It is not that hard. Use the help file
-LTP
:)
One question begging for an answer is whether it would be easier to setup VPN
than actually using LanCraft.
However, since VPN will make you part of the network, searching for a game would
essentially be easier, I guess.

Prolly, the next step would be to tell the original poster and possibly me, on
how to setup the VPN and what are the necessary hardware/software/technologies
in order to accomplish this. :-)

Is it Start, Help and Support, VPN ? :-)
If it is, then I believe you that it can be easily setup using WinXP. Thanks for
the guides, xzavior.
