Someone here told a few weeks ago about using enchanting to make money.
That reminded me of something I had not done in a while, and I was low
on gold with 3 alts about to turn 40. I decided to give it a shot and
this time keep records.

My level 40 rogue had enchanting of about 290, so could disenchant
anything. I parked him in SW with almost all my gold and put him to
work. Initally spend about 30 min per night with him, but am up to
about an hour per night now.

His gold stash just topped 1000g, starting at under 300g. He makes
between 50g and 100g per night.

Now, this is grinding in the worst way. No XP. No risk. No skills needed
other than enchanting. But an hour for 50-100g when I have no toons
over 40 on that server ain't bad...

The recipie is fairly simple. Start with Enchantrix (part of the
Auctioneer package). Run a scan of "trade items" daily for a couple
weeks to get a good local price database first (I aleady had that when I
started, since I use auctioneer to sell all loot).

In AH, choose Armor green-or-better (forget what AH calls it right
now...). Search for stuff in sets of 5 levels:

21-25
26-30
31-36
...
66-70

For each search, look at the median disenchant value. That is how much
you will likely get back from this item if you had 100 of them (that is,
any one may be less or more, but it will average to this). Set your own
mental max you are willing to pay -- typically I will pay up to half
this value.

Now place a bid on every item that is that amount or less. You will get
outbid on some, but there is plenty there that will come to you at the
bid price. Don't pay the buyout price, even if it is below your
threshold -- the difference between bid and buy is additional profit to
you.

Disenchant everything and sell it back on AH. Count your profit. Rince
and repeat.

Initially I could only do this after 48 hours, because I was spending
all my money on each cycle and had to disenchant, then wait for the sale
of the dust to continue. I now have enough gold to do this twice a day,
letitng the bids and sales overlap. The only difference is that this
speeds up the gold generation.

One note of caution. I have slowed down on 60+ items. On my server
there is not enough of a market for the disenchant results. I still do
a few, but I only bid on those with 5g+ profit per item, since it may
take a couple days to sell the shards.

Maybe you should start your own bank. What would the interest on
loans be?

Do you need collateral?

What level are the guys in your collection agency?

Quite reasonable. Only 10% per day. Compounded, of course...

Your first born alt will do.

We have been working closely with Blizzard on this effort, and have a
small army of level 80 toons ready to go. They are gettng practice as
we speak by terrorizing the countryside.

We hope for someone to fall behind on payments soon, so their boundless
energy and enthusiasm can be better channeled.

Dead; long, long dead. But I can show you the invisible marker in
Elwynn Forest where she met her fate.

Level 80? They can have my candle, no questions asked.
