Lots of quests that can be done in parallel, although some are drop
collection quests rather than kill quests.
Ideally, for an Alliance character, walk up from Theramore town into
Barrens, then Thousand Needles (the elevators are guarded by easy two
Horde mobs, level 30 and one lower level), to do a lot of
walk-no-fighting quests in Theramore on the way.
For a Horde, just fly to Freewind Post, then walk east. There's an extra
quest a little to the south when you enter the Shimmering Flats.
Either side, first thing you do is walk to the neutral buildings to the
east, and pick up all quests (I think there are six, maybe seven), then
walk south into Tanaris to Gadgetzan to pick up the flight point.
Just a little thing, and old hat to those of you who have level 80
characters, but for a relatively low-level player like me, Shimmering
Flats is very convenient, for when one feels in a (quest-) grinding mood.
I say level 34+, but less might suffice. I believe my Paladin was level
33 or so when he started, but I'm a bit reluctant to go in with my level
32 Troll Warrior, even though she's pimped with some blue gear. I think
I'd like to ding her to 33 first.

Walk? You can get a cheap mount and ride now. just checking :-)
Walking takes a long long while.
Theres also the fp at west of thousand needles just before the jungle to pickup while in
the area.

I usually go there at 31, it's a great place to level since at 31-32
you can easily kill most the mobs and by the time you're down to only
needing to kill lvl 34 mobs you've probably dinged anyway. Love that
place for some fun grinding quests. Would agree that a warrior maybe
would do well to wait for 33, but most classes are ok at 31-32 in my
experience, just warriors seem to take a fair bit of damage.

Eilnich (70 Blood Elf Warlock)
Ruire (70 Blood Elf Paladin)
He'll get a warm welcome there, as a horde strolling into an allianz town,
asking for a ride ^^
Which is actually on the Feralas side of the border between the two
zones. Thousand needles itself has only horde and neutral quests.
When my Night Elf hunter was trying to finish up the exploration
achievements, I found out that he had never stepped foot in that zone
despite having been in all the surrounding zones, and here he was at
the time at level 77. But since there's no alliance outpost nor
flightpoint, it really could be considered a horde zone unless the
presence of neutral quest givers makes it a disputed zone rather than
horde.
True.

Only if you're Alliance, AFAIK.

There's also the temptation to wait until she dings 34, so I get more
skills. And I've already ground the Shimmering Flats quests with 2 1/2
characters (one character still isn't quite done with them), and have
one more Horde character that can probably do them, a Mage.
Doing Shimmering Flats with 5 different characters within the span of
one week might be too much, leading to severe boredom...

My mistake, I though it was a neutral faction.
For alliance it is the first fp for quite a long way and worth picking up before
going to shimmering flats and tanaris and get the fp there , not such a bother for horde.
I think there is a horde post and fp nearby west up the road as well?
The roads are quite safe for horde, Alliance has a tendency to run into horde and
have to bash through the jungle predators to go around.
'Quite safe' as in relatively, compared to say a guild race by lvl 5-10s from utgarde to
colderra
:-)
For Alliance, I prefer working both Stranglethorn Vale and Arathi
Highlands in unison, hearthing back to Stormwind. Lots of easy
quests, and you can do most of your leveling without grinding at all.
> Shimmering Flats, in the eastern part of Thousand Needles.
Shortly after that, at level 37, head for Faldir's Cove in Arathi
Highlands. Some very nice neutral XP there for about an hour of questing.
Bring some kind of water breathing ability, such as potions, a warlock, or
a shaman, as the quests are mostly underwater.
I recall getting a quest from a Nelf in the Theramore Inn that
involved mobs in Thousand Needles (harpies I think it was). Though I
expect you're right about there not being any Alliance quests been
given out *in* 1K Needles.

Not if you take a lvl 30-31 caster there, with no +hit gear :-D
I've started out there at those levels with several chars, and learned
quickly that my priest was way too low, but at 33 it went well.
I'm leveling a horde mage atm, and have tried avoiding Shimmering,
Descolace and SV, but as I'm now stuck at 35, it looks like I have to go
there, or have a really hard time with lvl 37-40 mobs elsewhere.
I have just completed all quests in those areas with my priest, while
going for the Lorekeeper.

I prefer waiting with that till I'm level 37-38, so I can do all the
quests in both the north and south at the same time.

She was moved to the Auberdine dock...
http://www.wowwiki.com/Fiora_Longears
And now no longer offers the quest:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Quest:Highperch_Venom
I wonder if Fiora will survive the Cataclysm? Auberdine is slated to be
destroyed:
Well, it was pre-tbc that I did it, though I guess it is sort of
surprising to me that they'd remove that quest. *shrug*
In my experience, if one does all give Neutral quests in the era, and
the mobs aren't grey (in terms of XP for killing them), and ones does
the following delivery quests (to Booty Bay and Ratchet), one is pretty
much guaranteed to gain one entire level's worth of XP. Also the
kill/drop quests are fairly easy because it is such a target-rich
enviroment, although some of the drop quests are as annoying as drop
quests usually are (hint: There's a colony of turtles at around 2
o'clock along the rim of the flats area. Scorpid and vulture drops never
seemed to be problematic, but there's a colony of vultures too, further
south).
Nice.
