When my mates get together for a lan we often play WC3 in
4v4 teams. The games last for ages with all players
having at least one Lvl6+ hero. Cold war buildups are common
and rushes are rare. What do you think the best strategy
would be in a game like that?

Thanks
Jim

I still think rushes are good even in 4vs4, if you fight with 4 hero's
against 1 hero, you'll probably kill him before his teammates arrive, the
key is keeping the rush going, not letting him build up a army while you do
and keep your hero alive!!!
if they stop your rush, it all depends on your race, i do know that a decent
meatshield with riflemen practicly owns everything, throw in some heal, just
for the fun of it.
mix aura's, a bloodlusted tauren with unholy, vampire and endurance aura is
pretty good, especialy if you have to fight him twice when he's revived
again, catapults are a bit overpowered at the moment so thats a pretty good
option also...
chimeras and frostdragons only work if you can surprise your opponents.
there are plenty of good strats, but it all comes down to scouting and
making the right units to counter.

Have everyone go dual barracks and mass basic units fast. Everyone should
have 50 food asap, hit them hard and do a little recon for what enemy is not
towered. Kill town hall, altar and all peons then move to the next base. Do
not pound on buildings while your allies are fighting. Get in there and
fight. Never waste time killing each last farm while the other 3 enemies
tech and mass big stuff because even your teir 1 armies are no match for
things like chims, necros and healing wards.
Be prepaired though. Upgrade your town hall at least and get 2 heros and
keep pace with some smooth teching even if you rush. I like to think of what
makes a good tier 2 army. For my orc strat, this is getting the bezerk grunt
upgrade, kodo support and a few raiders to net air and kill towers fast.
With TC aura and shadow hunter healing, its all good for your team. Don't
forget pilliage for your grunts.

I myself am a fan of hit and run. Have 2 teammates harrass 1 of your
opponents real hard, make him ask for help, draw in attention, then
just move up to the next opponent base. On the other hand you and your
4th teammate can start hiting the base farthest from the harrassed
opponent player. Its really nerve-wrecking and REALLY effective when
done properly. Playing under such pressure guarantees that at least
one player from the opposite team will make a mistake. Try it next
time ur playing 4v4, its pure fun :P

Totally agreed. I was getting him into some basic strats to waste his
friends. Hero harrass in 4v4 AT so brutal. You MUST have your hero first and
be ready to pester hard and be prepared to take it back too. No late altar
crap at all. In that situation, i do play different too. I like to get a
fast hero and that means blademaster or farseer for wolves. That game is a
race to tier 2 tech. Keep them down while you get just enough tech to
totally wipe them. One guy goes dryad, another gets feinds and statues and
so on. I play some RT 4v4 and it is just that...random. If you get enough
noobs, you just lose. 1 noob can be compensated for but 2 or 3 just sucks.
Oh, one more strat 4v4 as orc is this... get your usual grunts or whatever
for creeping and defending, go TC(max his aura and use speed scrolls during
important battles), make 2 kodo and upgrade command aura, get enough shams
to lust 4 armies. This is a huge boost in attack: endurance aura + lust +
command aura = roughly 75% more attack power and 50% greater speed for 4
armies if they all get the aruas and spells. Add some healing wards and you
may be able to fight noobs without help.

Right, multiauras are INSANE! Especially when its the UD Dual aura and
the Orc's TC Endurance. Speed coming from 2 auras, and the vamp aura
is insane for tier1 melle units
