I wonder if the much-speculated mount speed trinket change, if it ever
shows up, will work in a similar fashion to Inscription, so you can
use a Riding Crop to "inscribe" your [Summon Pink War Pony] ability to
make the riding speed 10% faster.

Yup, mounts and Vanity pets, save storage etc Now they are spells and
dragable to your interface, good idea, frees up bag space, and with
achievemnets intoing new pets, well run out of space quick

Do they invoke the global cooldown? I use a regular mount on my paladin
so that I can use a mount macro - the summoned one invokes the global
CD, so can't be used.

I've always had my mount on my inferface. I also have a nice macro
that auto uses the flying mount in outlands and non-flying else where.
Yeah, that's a pain isn't it. I have a macro for my paladin that
applies my favourite aura for my current spec after I dismount but it
can't be used to apply crusader aura when I mount.

I saw a blue post a few days ago stating that the planned change to
riding crops that was speculated at in 2.4 is planned for WotLK, and
that they are working out ways of letting this work for summoned
mounts such as warlock, paladin, and death knight mounts, as well as
making them work for flight form druids.

That's exactly what I do, but as I simply bought a mount it works fine -
for now...
Although it makes no sense for a druid to use a Riding Crop on
themselves to fly faster. Hopefully they'll introduce a druid-specific
way to get the 10%, although the instant transformation is a bonus
already.
They do have a druid-specific way to get the 10% but you need to
complete the epic flight form quest to get it (plus get the pre-
requisite 5000g)

There already IS a druid-specific way to get the 10%.

You get this from a quest mid-time in the druid epic flight quest line.
Yes, you have to pay the 5000g first, but you'll get the "crop" free :)

Now that you mention it, how come warlocks can't use the succy to whip their
demon steeds into a faster run? ;-)

The last succubus who tried still has the mark of burning hoofs on her
face. She was unable to seduce anything after that :)
Don't make me laugh out loud at work, please ;-)
