I've got Carbonite to work, after downloading the version released
yesterday. But I do have a problem.

Every quest has an entry on the screen in the tasks list, and each one
shows the direction arrow, distance and time to the site of the quest
when clicked on. Except one, and that one brings up an error message to
the effect that this quest in not in the database. Question, how do I
put quests into the database?
Thanks

He spoke with a certain what-is-it in his voice, and I
could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far
from being gruntled.

If it works like Questhelper then you get it into the database by doing
the quest. Next time you do the quest (probably on an alt unless it is
a daily) the quest will be included with the information that you
discovered.
