I am not a video gamer. The computer games I play on the computer
occasionally are solitaire type games. So my questions will be very
very basic since I do not know where to start. So, please bear with me.
We are planning to get a large screen TV sometime soon. I would like to
use the TV for watching videos and playing games. My wife is not a
gamer either (she plays soduku on her laptop). However, she is a
private pilot (small planes). She has not flown since we got married.
I would like to include a flight simulator game along with the TV for
her. The only flight simulator game I am remotely familiar with is from
Microsoft. However, this only runs on PC. Is there a similar game for
the PS3/Nintendo/Xbox types gaming consoles?
Do they sell pilot controls to play the game? (I don't know if I am
asking this correctly.) For Nascar and other car driving games, they do
sell steering wheels/brakes etc. Is there something like that for
flight simulator game?
From gaming point of view, what do I need to play games on the large TV?
Any information and guidance is appreciated.
TIA.

PS - I live in the US.
in all honesty, there's every chance that any new TV you buy will have
a VGA or DVI interface, which would allow you to hook your PC up to
it, and that sounds like the best option given your criteria.
there aren't really any 'proper' Flight Sim games for the consoles,
most of the flying games available are military based and are
basically combat-based in nature.
the only console game with a flight controller available, that i am
currently aware of, is Ace combat 6 on the Xbox 360 (i'm uncertain if
there is a PS3 version or not, but i think it's Xbox exclusive for
now).
on the other hand, there are numerous flight stick controllers
available for the PC, which should be fully compatible with just about
all Flight Sim games.
There isn't any sort of realistic flight simulator on any of the
current consoles. The closest thing is a game called Ace Combat 6,
which is fighter plane focused and very arcade-style, probably not what
you're looking for.
Your best option would be to get a small form factor, quiet PC and
connect it to your TV using either a VGA, DVI, HDMI, or HDMI/DVI cable.
Also, it would be appreciated if you wouldn't cross post between the
uk.* groups and the alt.* groups in the future. Thanks! :-)
But what about the albumen?!
