MW2 Sells over 8 million in first week?

I was looking at VGChartz and on the worldwide game sales list for the week
ending Nov. 14 (that's just three days after Modern Warfare 2's release)
that between the 360 and the PS3 version of MW2, it sold well over 8 million
copies (8,139,191 copies to be exact). It sold nearly 5 million just on the
360 alone (that would just blow away Halo 3 by leaps and bounds). Does
anyone think that those numbers are way over-blown?

VGCharts.is garbage.
Then again no site can give accurate numbers. The only people that
know what they sold are Activision.
It's the same with NPD (only covers 60 to 65 of NA retail), Media
Charts, etc... They are all guesstimates at best.

Activision reported that the game sold 4.7 million units in North
America and the United Kingdom on the first day so that seems in line
with the numbers from the admittedly often shaky VGChartz estimates.

Is that 4.7 million units total between all console brands or just for the
360? VG reports nearly 5m just for the 360, I think that is way off, but I
could be wrong. If VG is correct even somewhat with their numbers, that is
simply mind-blowing!

4.7 million units across both consoles. If it were just 360, it would
indeed be mind blowing...
