I have the Wavebird for my Gamecube and adore it. Best controller I have
ever used... no lag or other problems I had with the one I bought for my
Ps2 a few years back.
I trust you guys... post your opinions please. I want to pick one up
before the week is out.
Thanks....
Gamecube: Wavebird (Obviously)
PS2: Pelican Shockwave2 (There is a newer one called 'Predator', but I like
the 'Shockwave2' better)
XBox: Pelican Eclipse (Silver one, not the older black one.)
I like Pelican's controllers because they are closest to the OEM controllers
(PS2 and Xbox) out of all the wireless controllers. (Logitec controller was
much too freaking big!) I had some doubt at first, since they weren't as
expensive as the others, but after using both for a while I bought an
additional 'Shockwave2' and 'Eclipse' so I'd have two wireless controllers
for PS2 and Xbox.
Reason I mentioned I had the silver Eclipse is because, as I understand, the
first lot that went out (black) had a few problems but were fixed with the
later (silver) lots.
They work great. No lag, battery (2 AA's) life is very good, excellent
wireless range.. Rumble is a little on the weak side (especially with
Shockwave2) but its enough to give you efficient feedback. In fact, I think
that compromise is a postive -- I'd definetly sacrifice some of the rumble
force for battery life. (You can also turn rumble off.)
I agree 100% with you on the Wavebird.. Excellent controller.. Complete
lack of rumble with the Wavebird is no problem with me either.
I have the black pelican eclipse and like it a lot. I've never had any
problems with it. The weaker rumble has never really bothered me and the
batteries seem to last forever. I've never seen the silver model, but if
it's an improved version of what I have then I might consider picking one up
myself as a second wireless controller.
The logitech is an excellent controller, if the size does not put you off
too much. It is by far my favorite stick, wireless or not, fits my hands
perfectly. Of course, being wireless is the reason I got it, and I love the
fact that you can pick it up and play and then lay it down, auto power off
with no charging station. Battery life is really excellent as well, and the
unit is quite durable so far. Please note I also liked the logitech
wireless wingman for the PC.

The thumbstick pads are too soft....everytime I use it, I have rubber
particles all over the controller...I'm not an overzealous controller user,
but the fact that the pads are practically coming apart really bothers me.
It now appears to be ripping in the center. I can't believe they didn't
playtest these things.

Never had that (or any) kind of problem personally. But it might be good
for anyone interested in this joystick to take this into consideration,
since if you had trouble no doubt others may have had similiar issues as
well.
One thing to note though, I don't know if it was just a bad batch or what.
The first one I had had a few defects. A piece was missing (the plastic
dome covering the hole under the left analog stick), and there was a defect
in the green transparent piece that runs around the logitech logo (very easy
to notice if you look). I exchanged it, and the SECOND one had the exact
same problems. So, I assume it was a bad batch. They both worked fine,
they were just little problems that bugged me. I returned the second one,
and went to another store, no problems with that one.

Thats good. I had based that upon being told at a store that there were
some problems with the first releases. He went on to say that the black
ones were the first release and silver the later ones. Very likely, he
didn't know himself. Were there black and silvers with the first releases?
Are they still making them in black and silver? I have no idea myself. I
do continue to see more silver ones on the shelf than black though. I did
notice that the specs on the packaging were a little different for silver
and black though. Oh well, since it works well for you then it doesn't
really matter. Its probably the exact same controller, anyway.
Yep, the battery life is great with the Pelican. Pelican's wireless
Shockwave2 (PS2) have proved themselves to have a great battery life as
well. I'm very pleased...

Good lord that controller cost $70!? And it didn't come with the right parts?..
I'd scream bloody murder if I had a 'defective' one. I'm sure the store will
exchange it for you if you ask nicely. Give it shot. It is after all, its
defective. The store can return it back to the vendor without a cost. You'll
have to talk to the manager to approve it but I'm sure if you bring your cute
girlfriend in to wink while you talk, it'll work. (assuming you have a cute
girlfriend that is...) ;)
Thanks for the heads up guys.. I would have never known to check for those
details before buying.

I would also like to go wireless. My question is this: Are their any
wireless controllers that you can connect the head set to?? Thanks

You can use a Logitech wireless headset (speaker and mike - Overstock.com
had them for $29) with a wireless controller that has the slot in the base.
I have done this for over a year with good results. The only pain part is
that you have make an adaptor for the plug, but it is really quit simple.
Why not just buy a controller cable extension, plug it into the base to
move the base closer to you, then plug your normal Xbox headset into the
base? That should work fine.
Yep, but them's the breaks. You can still go completely wireless
offline, and at least this allows you to use your normal wireless
controller while online so you don't have to switch controllers.

Logitech for the XBox, no question. It feels as nice as the Wavebird.
