When bought with something else. That said, I wish I'd known before I

Is there any reason why it wouldn't work with the DoA4 arcade stick,
like an awkward button layout for example?

No. The DOA stick should work with *any* game, especially VF5.

The DOA stick is now called the EX2 or somethng like that. There's
also a VF5 stick, too.
