Yea, but here in the US, I noticed Motorstorm moved into 10nth place
from 20th now in sales. That means the PS3 is selling also since it is
bundled with it. According to VGChatrz, PS3 sales uin the US went up
+61% from the previous week. The 360 in Europe is getting outsold
nearly 2-1 by the PS3, so if that keeps up, we know how fast it can
close. Personally, this is good news since it will keep the market
strong for competition.
And...?
Well, maybe I should have added "and?" to your rely to blig. I guess
you're too fucking stupid to follow allong your own tripe.
Clearance sales will do that.

3 guesses why and the first 2 don't count...
It's pretty amazing what killing a product line and introducing an
inferior one will do for product sales.

Sony Phasing Out 60GB PS3 in Europe
By Tom Ivan
Sony will discontinue the 60GB PlayStation 3 in Europe leaving only
the 40GB model on the market, although SCEE has told Next-Gen that
it's not ruling out new PS3 models in the future.
The news follows Sony's announcement on Friday that it will be
introducing a new entry-level 40GB PS3 in Europe, while slashing the
cost of the existing 60GB model.
The 60GB Starter pack will remain on sale in the SCEE region only
while stock last, Sony has said. Thereafter the 40GB model will be the
only SKU on the market. Sony explained the decision to discontinue the
60GB PS3 in a statement emailed to Next-Gen:
"The specification of the 40GB model represents the ideal trade off
between price and capability at this stage of the lifecycle. It
retains all the key High Definition features that make PS3 such an
impressive gaming and entertainment system, whilst allowing users to
add or enhance features with readily accessible aftermarket
accessories. It is also exceptional value for money.
"Whilst we do not rule out introducing alternative specification
models in the future we believe that the 40Gb model meets the needs of
consumers in the SCEE territories at the current time."
Sony is currently phasing out the 60GB model Stateside. Once all
remaining stock is cleared from retailers, the only model left will be
the 80GB PS3 which sells for $599. However, rumors continue to suggest
that the 40GB PS3 will see a North American release. While SCEA has
kept mum on the subject, a recent Hollywood Reporter article touts
November 2 as the 40GB console's planned US launch date.
What an idiot you are.
They are selling because they have come down to a price people think is
good.
Oh and a lot of places in the US are saying pre orders for the 40gb
version sold out.
Actually, the 80GB PS3 is $499 and the 40GB is $399 in the US
The price drop (this time a real price drop) always spikes sells...

The big question, of course, will be if the increased sales are
sustained over time. There was no significant sustained sales increase
with the last price reduction - which is why there is another so soon.
Saying the PS3 outsold the 360 3-1 on after a price drop is about as
impressive as saying the 360 outsold the PS3 5-1 following the release
of Halo 3. Both were tied to "big" events.

I'm sure Sony intended to slash prices a year after launch.
I don't think it will be just a sales spike this time. The new price is
looking a lot sweeter now for regular good sales. I don't think it will
every sell as well as the 360 in the US, but here in the UK and Europe
it might over take it in total sales.
You mean total sales as in selling right now? If you mean true total sales
overall, the PS3 would have to jump fairly high for a long time to do that.
The 360, overall, still has a better than 3-1 total install base in Europe,
and almost 4-1 in the UK. Since the PS3 barely edges out the 360 in overall
sales in the UK (barelky over a thousand this week), that won't happen.
There is only a few countries where the PS3 has substantially strongers
sales, but these amount to something like 4000 PS3s to every 2000 360s. At
that rate, it won't happen even into the nex gen release.
Look what's talking.
