(NY Times) - The game allows players to develop their
combat and magic skills, interact with other characters
throughout its fantasy world and have romantic
encounters with them. If you play as a male character,
it is even possible to have a liaison with a male elf
named Zevran.

It is this last detail that has gotten "Dragon Age:
Origins" (which is rated M for Mature, meaning that it
is intended for players age 17 and older) noticed by
news media outlets that do not focus solely on video
game coverage, placing it at the center of a cultural
debate...

Heck, you were able to make 2 male Sims kiss and share a bed together (no
hanky-panky) in the first Sims game over a decade ago.

I'm sure this will result in people buying the game to see what the hubbub
is about only to either find the game enjoyable, or so horrible because
they don't like computer games, much less RPGs, in the first place.

That must have been from a later add-on. The basic game only let them hug
and kiss. They would share a bed and dream about their partner, which I
thought was rather sweet.

Unfortunately I left the game running while I went to get something to
drink, and one of the guys decided to make a snack in the kitchen. He
started a fire, caught himself on fire, and died before his partner's
eyes. His partner was too distraught to do anything, so he just sat there
and let the flames consume him as well. With no one left in the house, it
burned down, and set the rest of the neighborhood on aflame. I reset the
neighborhood and started afresh after that.

Hell, there was an explicit and plot-mandatory lesbian sex scene in
Ultima VII Part 2 -- at least, if you played a female Avatar, and that
was in the early 1990's.

Always amazes me how and where people choose their battles. I saw a
YouTube video last week that had the different romantic encounter
possibilities, and there's a lesbian liaison in Dragon Age as well,
depending on your character choice. Funny how those never draw as much
ire and attention as the male ones, huh? I guess lesbianism is more
socially accepted than man-on-man action. (Of course, with a largely
male gaming audience, I'm sure the girly stuff wouldn't be complained
about, cause it's all hawt n stuff! heh)

I think few of the people complaining are gamers at all.

I find it amusing that you two both ventured to find out what would and
would not happen.

A (female) gamer friend of mine noted that while playing "Mass Effect". If
you played as a guy you could choose to have a love story with either the
human babe or the alien babe. If you played as a woman you could choose to
have a love story with either the human babe or the alien babe. Guess what
combo was missing...

A threesome with both the human babe and the alien babe?

Entertainment for the shallow.

Still, at least some of those 'customers' paid for their 'ticket'.

*remembers the sales numbers for Fear Effect 2*

some smurf pussy?

Who did you let die?

Kaden was the only one to die on my game save.

It's not gay if it's an elf.

None. I played with a female character (mostly because she was voiced by
Jennifer Hale, the gal who voiced Bastila in KotOR and Fall-From-Grace in
Torment :^D), and I role-played that she was against having "relationships"
with the crew.

OTOH, I'm playing DA:O with a female lead too (an human noble warriorette)
and I'm really interested in that Orleanian bardette :^D Still no luck,
however.

I'm having a problem with my Morrigan. She's totally in love with my
toon and she went to the tent with him ONCE...but she won't even talk
about doing it twice. I can't understand it, cos to Z he's a total love
god.
