Let me explain why. I love the PS2, great system. I waited last year for
the PS3 which never came out and so I was excited for a PS3 this holiday
and enjoying it with BlueRay DVD's on my 60" HDTV (only 720P but still
nice). So the holiday comes and Sony misses getting enough units out and
I had no way to know for sure when PS3's would be on the shelf (they are
now). Basically I got tired of waiting for over a year and Sony missed my
second time around holiday buy period.
Sony has missed a huge market hit with the production of the PS3 not
being ready in mass for the holiday. The WII and XBOX 360 have gobbled up
a lot of the holiday game buying crowd.
Now I'm thinking why buy a PS3 in January since I've got a 360. I'm lucky
at this point in my life that money is not the issue. Do I want to spend
$600 on unknown BlueRay versus HD-DVD wars guessing on the winner and a
PS3 that does not yet have a lot of titles?
I'm still disappointed that Sony kept me waiting for over a year with
delay, then delay, then delay and finally nothing to buy a year later for
the holiday. They have had a huge failure on production timing wise and
they know it, based on their rush to air ship units. Now to see if they
can catch up. I hope so because they have invested in some very unique
technology in the PS3.
BTW here is an interesting couple of web links on some stats.
