Looks like all those bundles drew in a lot of customers. I know quite
a few people who tried to find one and came away empty handed.
Nintendo reported it sold 550,000 Wiis over the same period in the
US. Microsoft declined to release any sales figures.

I saw some *great* PlayStation 3 bundles over the Thanksgiving period.
One included InFamous and Killzone 2 which I might have jumped on had
I not already owned Killzone 2.
On the flipside, I saw some really shady deals pulled by some
retailers with Xbox 360 bundles, which couldn't have helped. Best Buy
was the worst of the lot. You know those holiday Elite packages that
come with some Lego game and that Pure game included *in* the box?
Well, Best Buy was selling the non-holiday Elite with two games
separately and an extra controller for... the price of all of those
things combined and calling it a bundle. Absolutely ridiculous. I
confronted an employee about that and they said it was stupid but that
was what corporate told them to do.
Microsoft didn't release any exact numbers but they did officially
state that they sold twice as many consoles as they did the previous
week and that amounts to the best selling week of the year for the
Xbox 360. I guess we'll find out soon enough when the NPD numbers come
out.

Man, that is shady. It's little wonder the 360 didn't sell so well.
Walmart.com still has a pretty decent Slim bundle available:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=13020931
It's not as brilliant as the one without the remote and extra
controller for $299, but it's still a very good deal.

Gamestop was selling PS3s with 3 top line games for $299, so it's no
wonder they sold fast and furious.

It's not broken. It's...advanced.
:-(
a) I already have a remote.
b) I already have two controllers.
c) What's up with that second controller in the image with the red
borders on the grips?
d) I already have Arkham Asylum
I'd settle for a bundle that includes the Slim, InFamous and the
newest Ratchet & Clank game (which I could probably offload on eBay)
for $299.

That's a third-party controller, there.
A "build your own" bundle would be about the most awesome thing ever.
But I doubt we'll ever see it.

A truly fat chance of that...
