i'd disagree. there were more games i wanted to play on the PS2 launch than
from the X-Box launch. there was only one game that even held my interest on

and i talked about the PS2 features and its functionality.

to play right now why bother buying an Xbox? So what if it gets great games
later? I doubt it will get that many exclusive games down the road ..atleast
not until it sells well over 5 or 6 million.. there is too much money for
developers to make on the PS2's installed user base VS the Xbox

Of course not. But you just showed a very similar kind of ignorance and bias
... you listed a bunch of PS2 games, some of which are great, some of which
(IMO) suck, and two of which you haven't played because they aren't out yet.
And then you claim the Xbox has only one good game (at least I think that's
what you're trying to say) even though I doubt you've played most if any
Xbox games. Are you not falling prey to the word of mouth of others?

The Dreamcast had lots of AAA games when the PS2 came out, and the PS2 had
roughly three games worth owning in its first six months. Why did anyone
bother buying a PS2? Because they (presumably) saw hardware with good
potential, had a couple of good games and were happy to be owning the most
powerful console available. Same as it is now with the Xbox, except the Xbox
has far more games worth owning at launch than the PS2 did.

dreamcast.. and still love my dreamcast.

Same could have been said for the DC a year ago. The DC had a ton more AAA
titles then the PS2 for the first 6 to 8 months. Were you writing on the Sega
groups trying to get parents to buy it over the PS2? If not then you are a
hypocrite plain and simple.
Bottomline is the both systems will have great games. I own all three systems
and enjoy playing games on all of them. But the truth is that if you want to
buy the most powerful system out there then the XBox is it. How do you explain
Sony seriously considering pushing the PS3 out the door two years early if that
wasn't true? The Xbox is as the PS2 was last christmas- an investment in the
potential it brings and the future games it will have.

The same could be said for the PS2. Because it has the larger userbase (for
now) it will be the system games are initially made for. So it's limited
architecture will halter advancement on games created for the GC or XBox as
they won't be optimized for those systems. (see SSX Tricky, TH3, etc). It's a
ridiculous statement. Do I think that's going to happen? Not in the long run.

I honestly feared a Sony monopoly when the superiour software of the DC was

I don't understand the comparison. Nintendo makes quality first-party games
for a solid, devoted fan base. They lost out in sales to the PSX and are

The Xbox is the more powerful system, and it's senseless to argue against
that. But developers have spent the last year and a half harnessing the
features of the PS2 to make some really good games, many of which are better
than what's available right now on the Xbox (if you look past the REAMS of
PS2 shoverlware that is.) At this moment in time, I would say the PS2 is the
better system only because of its selection of games. When the Xbox offers
more and more games that the PS2 simply wouldn't be capable of doing, that's
when that might change. I'm glad to own both. And a Gamecube.

Even the most frothing PS2 fanboy doesn't consider Red Faction, Dark Cloud
or Okage "AAA games." Onimusha, AC.04, Twisted Metal Black and NFL 2K2 are
all good games, but I wouldn't put them in AAA category either. And Maximo
isn't even OUT yet. You're crying wolf by saying that, because when true AAA
games do come out, people will just say "ah, those PS2 fanboys practically
think that gay 3D Frogger is a AAA game." Plus, at least six of those games
are out or coming out on the Xbox, most of them in an enhanced form.
If you consider all those games to be AAA games, then the Xbox's AAA games
so far are Halo, DOA3, Project Gotham, NFL Fever, Munch's, Amped, Madden
2002, Tony Hawk 2X and SSX Tricky. It's just an abuse of the "AAA game"

No, actually, it doesn't. The PS2 has more good games, yes, but
functionality? The Xbox has a hard drive. The Xbox has a broadband adapter.
The Xbox has four controller ports. You can use your Xbox as a digital
jukebox. The Xbox DVD playback is head and shoulders above the PS2s and
offers way more playback functions ... yes you have to buy a separate
remote, but anyone serious about using their PS2 as a DVD player has to buy
a remote as well. The Xbox can do in-game DD 5.1 on the fly without
requiring programming tricks that steal resources from other areas (and most
games make use of it, vs. just two games on the PS2.) And if you have a PC,
the Xbox is already online-capable with more games than the PS2 is.

Substandard DVD, the Xbox has no games to be backwards compatible with so
that's a non-issue, and MS could make mice and keyboards if they wanted

These are all add-ons that would cost you hundreds of dollars extra. They're
not built-in, and just like every other console add-on in existence they
will not be widely supported by developers. You might as well say AOL and

on the PC (w/ better graphics, faster load times and online multiplay) from

that the people who bought the PS2 knew that Sony had a long history of
experience and being very successful in that marketplace. Buying the Xbox is
a shot in the dark--MS had never sold a console or a console video game
before the Xbox, so it is much more of a gamble. MS can't buy their way into

I think I'd have to pound my self in the head with a hammer a few times to "get
it". Or know nothing at all about games. Either one. :)
All of those games are VERY good except 18 wheeler which is like Silent Scope in
that it's not nearly as much fun without the arcade cabinet, special
controllers, and the arcade atmosphere that went with the original.
Skies of Arcadia 91.46% average rating at game rankings, NFL 2K2 87.24%, Code
Veronica 92.73%, Grandia II 88.09%, Rayman 92.93%, Crazy Taxi 89.44%, MDK 2
89.49%, Guilty Gear X 81.4%. Those aren't bad numbers and people were tickled to
get them for the PS2. Don't kid yourself otherwise.
I also forgot DOA2 which was on Dreamcast 1st.
Virtua Fighter 4 ain't out for a home system yet and shooting down "several
other games" just makes it look like you've got some major difficulties with
reading comprehension.
The quandary the DC was in was a manufacturer/publisher w/ huge debt( and
deservedly waning credibility with fans, developers, and retailers due to a
habit of orphaning systems and add ons) getting screwed by an over hyped
vaporware product a full year before it came out that sucked for a half year
after it came out.

It has more than one and I listed them. You were stupid to just snip them as
though that settles anything. Halo might just suck on the PC or never come out.

How would this in any way relate to the system specs? No matter what you

i like good games and hate bad ones. you'd be surprised at how few newsgroup
participants subscribe to this basic tenet of videogaming. they're too
concerned with genre, innovation, or length that they forget about the whole
quality thing.

i've played through pretty much every xbox launch game and every major
dreamcast game release. the dreamcast library was utter shit and the xbox seems
to be headed in the same direction. oh well.

and a year late. it's too bad all the ps2 ports on the xbox being released
sooner sport no improvements whatsoever. enjoy genma onimusha while ps2 players
are into onimusha 2 and you're seeing what you'll be playing on the xbox in

it must be fun playing ps2 games a year later than everyone else. that's if the

while it's amusing when morons come up with a fake thesis to come to a flawed
conclusion, you should probably look back at history on this one. say to the
last generation, when around 30% of the psx's library was being brought to the
n64 months later - most times those ports ended up worse. this is what the xbox
is looking more and more like - an n64 except without nintendo. i don't have to
tell you how pathetic that sounds. but go on pretending that all the developers
are gung ho to make the 50k copies of their xbox versions that much better than
the games bought by the ps2's huge userbase. keep trying.
