it's much better than some of Capcom's other games... certainly one of
the best 2D fighter's I've played.

what don't you like about it?

- the graphics,
- the playability,
- the animation,
- the moves,
- the music / sound,
- the size of the characters (they're so short!),
- the retro feel of the game just doesnt work for me

but that said, i LOVE the large number of characters and seeing all my fave
marvel heroes in a fighter is a nice idea, but somehow it felt like a total
retro fest, like jumping back to the 1980s or something. For a PS2 game I
would expect at least some basic 3D gfx and half decent animation. I wasnt
expecting a 'proper' fighter like Tekken or VF but My God, this game might
has well have been on the PS1, its so crappy.

Well this game isn't a new game. It's a port from the Dreamcast and arcade.
Everything is exacty the same as the previous versions. In my opinion, this
game is the "proper" fighter due to it being a continuation of the
Capcom/Street Fighter mold. I grew up playing all the SF games and that's
how a fighting game should be I think. I love this game. I haven't really
been able to get into Tekken or VF too much. I like some of the crazy, 100
hit combos that be pulled off in the Capcom 2D fighters.

Do your homework then before buying a game. A fighter like Tekken of VF? 2D
fighting games take more skill to be good at then "any" 3D fighter ever
made! Well... maybe MVSC isn't as skilled a fighting game as the original SF
but it still takes more skill then "most" 3D fighters.

You have to actually think to play a decent 2D fighter and not just mash
buttons or dial a combo. MVSC II is an exact port of previous installments

No bonus levels either. Shorter game than PS2 versions (yes there are more
fighters but less bouts).

C'mon Capcom, put some work into it.

If you are looking for Marvel characters in a 3D fighting game, try the
X-Men:Next Dimension game. I got a bad review in OPM (I think their last few
fighting game reviews are off mark, but that's for another post), but I love
it. There are about twenty characters, a decent fighting engine (flight is
cool), easily accessible super powers, and the best multi-level interactive
environments I've seen in a PS2 fighting game.

I especially like that most of the characters fight how they would in the
comics. Magneto, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, the Blob, Phoenix, and the Beast
are all done very well.

The A.I. is a little too tough though. Even with a decent story mode, it is
much much better as a two player (aren't all fighting games?).

I liked that game myself. Played it for quite a while... I might come back to
it soon.

It was one of the best games on the DC. The PSone couldn't do it because of
the amount of characters that you have fighting with you at the time. Remember
the first MvC couldn't swap characters unless they were the same character. I
think the action of the fighting overwhelms at times rather than getting a slow
action but great graphics fighter. Besides, it is Capcom we are talking
about... the leader in sequels.

It is a pretty good fighting game IMO, esp. if you like Marvel characters.

Yeah, I even like Dark Phoenix and Psylocke/Betsy. Nightcrawler is my fave and
I have almost mastered most of his moves.

Just like many fighting games, there are ones that seem to just cheat enough to
make me mad. Magneto and Gambit are ones that seem to do this a lot with me.

It's probably the absolute best 2D fighter ever made.

There ARE extra stages that you can purchase...

What I like about this game is that everything is randomised, so it's
pretty much a different game each time you play is.

say what you want, but I think this game is great.
