PS2 Memory cards incompatible with PS1 games?

I was looking forward to using the 8mb PS2 Memory Cards to store my many saves
on PS1 cards (I have about 10 memory cards from the past 4 years). I just read
in the latest EGM that PS1 game saves can't be transferred to the PS2 cards.

Can someone confirm this? Of course, we won't fully know until Oct. 26, but the
situation for Japanese PS2 saves will probably be the same for us.

What's the final word on this?

You won't be able to use the PS2 memory card on PS1 because I think it's
slightly larger than the normal PS1 memory card. I'm not positive but I'm
kind of sure too.

You won't be able to use the PS2 Memory Cards to save PS1 saves. Both
Memory Cards should fit in the system and work fine.
