I just had my SCPH-1001 playstation modified with a basic 4 wire mod chip.
The guiy told me that there is no 7 wire chip that will work on my
playstation. I got Dino Crisis and of course it can detect my mod chip and I
cant even play the original. Can anyone offer me any help on a new Stealth
chip that works with the Scph-1001.????

thanks

You more than likely have the 9001 model(dual shock) on the 4 wire chips you
wont be able to play the backup. Try holding the reset down for3-5 seconds and
you can play the original. Check your hookups though. Each wire, Make sure
their soldered to the right spots,no excess solder touching anything. You
should be able to play the original without holding down the reset,if its
hooked up right. I just put in a 7 wire in my PSX. At first it did the
same, then i relized i put 1 wire in the wrong spot. Works great now.

I had the same problem with Dino, I'm using 9001 with 4 wire modchip. I got a
big circle with a line though it and a bunch of Jap writing. This was with the
original version.

use the gameshark CD enter the code and it bypasses the anti mod, no need
for a new mod chip

John,

First off the Mod chip used in your system is version that predates the
Stealth Mod chip, I install the Stealth 2.8 version and it is 7-wire for any and
all PSX systems. Your model can have some problems not related to the Mod chip,
but is much more evident after a mod install, the 10xx can have laser problems,
due to its age. I just did the Mod in a 1001 this weekend, and tested it for
hours to make sure that it did not have a laser problem, they can skip while
playing originals and even playind CDR's.

It's much better to just buy a newer version playstation.

"The guy" gave you bad information, the new multi-mode chips work in
all Playstation models. Unfortunataly if your chip is more than a few
of months old Dino Crisis will not play. The latest chips are
programed so as to play all current games and have modes that modify
their timing so they can be used on future copy protections as well.
If you are fairly good with a solder iron, I would recommend
www.chipzone.com as a source for your chips I have ordered many from
them and they are fast and reliable. If not I install chips via
mailorder or locally if you live in the Washington, DC area. Your PSX
will be chipped and shipped within 24 hours of reciept.
I can be reached at psx...@usa.com
