AND UNIVERSAL INTERACTIVE STUDIOS, INC. SIGN
EXCLUSIVE WORLDWIDE LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR
“CRASH BANDICOOT”

FOSTER CITY, Calif., March 21, 1996 -- Sony Computer Entertainment
America (SCEA) and Universal Interactive Studios, Inc. (UIS) are
announcing today an exclusive, worldwide license agreement that gives
SCEA publishing and distribution rights for Crash Bandicoot, an original,
character-based action game for the Sony’sâ PlayStationÔ game console.
Crash, and the rest of the characters created exclusively for this game,
will be unveiled at the SCEA booth at the Electronic Entertainment Expo
(E3) May 16, 1996 in Los Angeles.
"Numerous product proposals are submitted to me by developers for
the PlayStation. Crash Bandicoot stood out because of its great
graphics, ingenious character design and innovative controls,” said
Bernard Stolar, SCEA vice president of business development. “This
typifies the standard of game we expect to see demonstrated by the
‘second generation’ of software for the PlayStation.”

enjoyed tremendous success in our first year of release. Crash
Bandicoot, a premiere title in the historically important,
character-based action genre, will cement the PlayStation’s position as

prowess of SCEA as we launch our first product for the PlayStation,” said
Rob Biniaz, Chief Operating Officer of UIS. “We believe that Crash
Bandicoot is a landmark product for the PlayStation, and for 3D gaming as

Sandy Climan, Executive Vice President of MCA INC., said: “UIS
has assembled an outstanding group of interactive software experts
including Vice President of Technology and Crash Bandicoot Executive
Producer Mark Cerny and Producer David Siller. This alliance with SCEA
validates our approach to software development, which emphasizes gameplay
while also taking advantage of the traditional skills, such as
storytelling and character development, associated with Hollywood.”
Crash Bandicoot was created and developed for UIS by Naughty Dog,
Inc., an independent development company working at the UIS headquarters
on the Universal Studios lot in Universal City, California.
Universal Interactive Studios, Inc. is a subsidiary of MCA INC.,
a unit of The Seagram Company Ltd., a global beverage and entertainment/
communications company. UIS develops and publishes videogame software
for a variety of platforms based on both original concepts and MCA-owned
motion picture and television properties.

You are a presence here when there is a new product to promote, which
is great. But when we have questions, I never see you chime in with
some info for us. EVERYONE is asking about NBA Shootout and whether or
not it will track stats. Instead of watching us speculate this to death,
why not help us out? This sort of customer support would only help
cement our loyalty to Sony. Any additional info you could provide would
be appreciated by your most valuable asset, your customers.
