Yes, because I got the system for the fighting games, and I have them (SFA,
SFA2, KOF's, Samurai 4, cough-X-Men, VF2, etc.)

Getting some great products like WD's was a great bonus.

I must say that buying the Saturn has been one of the best decisions I
made so far. Sure all the systems are good but the Saturn's collection of
games appeal to me more than the other systems. The cool Shining RPGs like
StHA and Shining Force 3(coming soon) have made me cherish exactally how
much my Saturn can do. Anime RPGs like MKR and Slayers are also something
that an anime fan like me just can't pass up. It is also because of many
Saturn RPGs like Lunar: SSS, EB and Magic School. An RPG fan like me has
absolutely no reason to be upset. Sure, their not in English but if you
have some determination that is really not a big problem.

< Psst. Speaking of which. Can anyone tell me what to do after meeting the
Dragon in Lunar SSS? Someone said to look for a dragon diamond but I can't
find anything!!>

The other type of games that I like are the 2D fighters. Capcom's 2D
fighters like SF Zero 2 and the upcoming XSF and MSF are perfect examples
of why I find satisfaction in my Saturn. SNK's Kof and SS series are also
great additions to my 2D library of fighters.

The occasional other games i've picked up are also great, Rockman X4 and
Puzzle Fighter come to mind here.

Overall, there is nothing more I can ask from my Saturn. I am one
satisfied Saturn owner.

Who cares if SOA screws up everything in America? there's always Japan.

Who cares if WD never releases their games? I can always get the imports
and to be perfectly honest most of the time, they're better than WD's
stuff. Especially in the lyrical music and voice dubbing.

Who cares if SOA bever releases their RAM carts? Just get the Japanese
version. If necessary get one of those 4-in-1 Action Replay carts. BTW
I've heard of an action replay with the 4 MEG RAM CART inside. Can anyone
comfirm this?

jia...@pacific.net.sg

P.S. Forget the system wars. All systems are great. Some just appeal to a
different type of audience.

I like my Saturn a lot. I like it even more lately since I got a 4-in-1
cart to play Japanese games. An awful lot of games come out for it
considering it's a 'dead' system (eight in October). I think it has a
lot of 'hardcore' appeal if you ask me. Games like VF2, Nights, and
Guardian Heroes are hardly games that possess mainstream qualities.
Instead they revolve around gameplay and innovation. There is still a
steady stream of quality US titles coming for now (Enemy Zero, Duke Nukem
3D, Quake, Sega Ages, Panzer Dragoon Saga, etc) in the US and Japan is
full of good games so I should be content for the next 2 years.--

I'm not really satisfied with my Saturn. I think the main problem
with it is that there ar so little games.
I go to buy a game and see so little selection. Meanwhile the
Playstation side has plenty of games. Some stores don't even sell Saturn
games.
They gave away three free games just to get you to buy it and then
nothing. I think it was a waste of money.

I'm quite satisfied with my Saturn... I'm actually a single system owner
too! The Saturn has the games I personally want to play. Fire Pro
Wrestling: 6-Men Scramble is still huge on my playtime list as well as all
the incredible Capcom 2-d fighters. (With plenty more on the way.) NiGHTS
is still a great game that gets played because of the awesome A-Life
system, Guardian Heroes (my first game and reason I bought the system STILL
gets playtime) and Sillhouette Mirage (which I haven't beat yet *mental
note*). Let's see, what else.... Metal Slug, SS4 hell, ALL the SNK games
for the most part, the Sega exclusives like the V-Cops that actually
prompted me to buy 2 stunners as well as games like Virtual-On, Virtua
Fighter Kids, Thunderforce V, and plenty more. I still haven't got my copy
of DoA yet, Duke3D will be a keeper, STHA is still on the buy list along
with quite a few more games that are out and have yet to come out. *shrug*
I guess I'm just Sega's dream customer!

Yep, I am satisfied, I just bought my Saturn about 1 month ago.
The main reason I like the Saturn is because their are a lot of good games

available at reasonable prices.

Sure, I could have been just like everyone else and got a PSX, but I
didn't.

Please no replies flaming me because I like the Saturn.

I've owned it for a little under a year (got it when the Nights bundle was
released), and I am satisfied. Even if I never got another game, I would
be content right now.

I recently bought a PC, so I won't need to use the Netlink for browsing or
mail, but even with the SoundBlaster 64 and Diamond Viper 330 in my new
system, I still look forward to more Saturn games.

I probably spent over $500 on Saturn-related purchases during the past 11
months, and I don't regret a thing, in spite of the Dilbertian management
of Sega of America.

Can't agree more!! I am EXTREMELY satisfied with the Sega Saturn. I am a
long time hard-core PC gamer, but found the Saturn compliments my PC very
very well, much better than the others. The following are among my favorite
games, and all these are either Sega exclusive or are better on the Saturn.

Virtual On, Virtua Fighters, Virtua Cop 1 & 2 (with stunners), Dragon
Force, Sakura Wars, Super Robot Wars F, Dead or Alive, Decatheletes, Saturn
Bomberman, Panzer Dragon 1 & Zwei, Die Hard Arcade, SF Alpha2, KOF 96,
StHA, Sega Rally, Daytonna CCE, Layer Section, X-Men: CoA, Soukyugolentai,
Vampire Hunter, SS3, and many many more -- far too many to list!

Another thing is, I LOVE SoJ's peripherals. I bought the Virtua Stick Pro
(the big one that has two real arcade-sticks on it) and the Saturn feels
just like an arcade machine. For me, the Sega Analog pad feels way more
comfortable then anything else (yes, including the N64 sticks). Stunners
are just plain excellent for VCs, and the one form Japane is black! And I
even bought the Virtual On twin sticks.

Even if Saturn market dies tomorrow, I still think I played my money-worth.
In fact, there are so many games I still want to master (e.g. VF2, DOA,
KOF) that the Saturn is going to last me a long while. The fact that
Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers, Xmen vs SF are still to come is a big
plus. (BTW, I strongly recommend Saturn owners to look at the import
market. You can get so much more out of that magic box.)

I just gotta say that everyone who responded to this survey simply
RULES. All of you know what the deal is, where the best games are and
you aren't afraid to let it be known.

I thought I was the only one in the world who is STILL unimpressed by
the Playsatan but it is quite obvious that I am wrong.

Gamers like all of you (all of us) deserve the Sega Saturn and their
limited success doesn't bother me one bit when I see that so many true
hardcore freaks are still out there playing what the press wants to call
"inferior 2D product" (Next-Gen are BIG culprits of this)

so, keep playing and keep believing.

I have more Saturn games than PSX stuff...but then again, 90% of my
Saturn library is composed of imports. SoA sux. But there's so much
great import stuff out there, I don't really mind.

I am VERY impressed with the "PlaySatan." There are some great games in
that machine, and they're getting some great RPGs in the near future
(SaGa Frontier, Final Fantasy Tactics, Breath of Fire III, etc.),
besides the ones they already have (Suikoden, Wild Arms, Final Fantasy
VII). I don't see why you have a problem with the PSX. There is great
stuff for both machines, PSX was just the one with better management and
marketing, and that's why it's winning the next-gen console 'war.'
Saturn has great stuff, but SoA is asleep at the wheel, and its not
bringing over any of the good stuff (still NO announcement on Grandia,
no Silhouette Mirage, no RAM cart, etc.).

Next Generation is a horrible magazine. If it's not 3D, to them it
sucks. What a bunch of lamers. It doesn't bother me, though. Let them
play their 3D stuff, and I'll be playing Street Fighter Collection, Mega
Man X4, and all those other great SNK and Capcom 2D games.

Yeah that's what everybody keeps telling me. I don't know--i think that
a lot of technical shit keeps me from the PSX---not to mention that I
don't like how the PSX was sold to the public. They paid off magazines,
they hyped up pretty poor games and bought off most of the competition.
On top of all that, there still isn't a single game that can convince me
to actually put down some of my hard earned money to get it.

Yeah, Sega is screwing things up. But at least there are many Japanese
games to be had and the stuff that's out for it already isnt bad...

Absolutely. I bought my Saturn early, when the price was high, and I've
more than gotten my money's worth out of it. In addition to Sega's
excellent arcade ports, I've been happy at the many great 2D fighters and
shooters coming out of Japan.

I have a PS also, which is a good system, but despite the PS's dominance
in the marketplace, the Saturn still has more games that appeal to me.

Heh... yep.... I guess I am happy with SoJ. THEY make the games I want.
It's times like this when I actually wish that Sega was a third party
developer for other systems, you know? But... I'm QUITE happy with my
Saturn and it's library. I'm actually waiting for the All Star Hockey 98
though... where the hell is it?!?!?!?! :-)

Yeah I too LOVE SoJ and my Saturn. I myself have an original grey Saturn
from Japan that I bought imported when it first came out over there. And
to tell you the truth I only have 5 US releases and 27 Japanese, so you
see where my preferences are. And, no I'm not Japanese, just unhappy
with the way that SoA has handeled such a GREAT system. I hope they
don'y drop the ball with the next one............

I bought a Saturn for the Working Designs games, Nights, Sakura Wars,
and Virtual On last month. I plan on buying many imports to keep my
interest in the system high. SoA mystifies me. They treat the Saturn
the same way they treated the SMS, which I also owned. It seems the
powers-that-be are allergic to spending money if they can't be number
one. Still, Christmas Nights was pretty cool last year. SoA didn't
have to bring it over. I'm glad they did.

At any rate, I am satisfied with my Saturn. Thanks for asking.

Pretty well satisfied, I have a library of about 25 games that I enjoy
thoroughly..
there are a small handful of games though that I really wish had come out
for
the saturn though.. (Castlevania, Tomb Raider2, Legacy of Kain, Alundra...)
then I would have been 100% satisfied... as far as graphical differences,
that stuff is really rather un-important to me, I thought for instance,
that the differences in Tomb Raider for Playstation and Saturn were trivial
and didn't affect the game play experience at all.. for others however,
these made a big difference...

Well my brother bought his just a few months after the Saturn came out
in the UK (at 400UKP), I inherited it when he bought his Playstation,
one of things I remember is when he gave it to me at the games I had
at the time were VF1, Shin Shinobi Den, and Panzer Dragoon, then Sega
released the 'Big 3' at the time VCop1, VF2, and Sega Rally, and the
major thing that impressed me was the dramatic improvement in the
games (specially between VF1 and VF2), it's just that now the only
games I seem to look forward to being released these days is anything
which is made by one the AM teams, third party support just seems
non-existant (apart from a few gems here and there). I know there'll
be a slow trickle of decent software coming out, but compared to the
flood of Playstation games (people would argue that most of it is
pretty crap, but at the end of the day thats where all the third party
software developers are going)

Looking at that I was just about to say I wasn't satisfied with my
Saturn, but thinking about it, I'm just not satified by the support
(especially from third party developers) that the saturn, especially
in the UK, is receiving. Anyone know any decent Japanese language
tutors? :)

Anyway enough melancholy talk, I'm off down the shops to buy my copy
of Sega Touring Car :)

Yes, I am satisfied with my Saturn, mainly because it's got the best RPGs
around (Mystaria, Dragon Force, Shining The Holy Ark, Shining Wisdom) and a
great RPGs line-up (Magic Knight Ray Earth, Grandia, Shining Force 3,
Phantasy Star Collection and Phantasy Star 5).
There's also the Sega Ages Project, including 3 of my favourite classic
games (Out Run, After Burner and Space Harrier), and some other 3rd Party
stuff, although not as much as the PSX's got.

I bought mine from a pawn shop before the collectors market soared alongside a pretty healthy amount of games. Between it and the 3DO it tends to be brought out the most out of storage!

In the 90s cross ports always came with a delay due to the complexity of transcribing PSX titles to the Sega platform. The guy that was lead on MK Trilogy has posted on USEnet regarding the challenges in attempting to replicate something like MK on the Saturn
