I am somewhat interested in playing some more PSO on my Gamecube but I am
definitely not interested in the level grind or in rare hunting. Now that the
XBOX version is clearly *THE* version for online play, I thought perhaps it
was safe to ask this.
Is there any way to "cheat" in offline Gamecube PSO to try out all the rares,
alter stats on your character, etc.?
I am sure there are folks here who will say "that is so lame!" or "just play
the game". I respect your opinion and your preferred style of play.
At this point, the only thing aspects of PSO I am interested in are trying out
some of the classes I haven't tried (the new ones, mainly) and experimenting
with all the new items. I've easily played 300+ hours of PSO on multiple
consoles, and thus the idea of clearing the same levels 50+ times in a row
just to get a rare item is not something I am particularly interested in.
Furthermore, since I am not playing online, I am already missing out on a lot
of the better features of the game, the ability to trade for other rares, and
the ability to group with people of different section IDs.
So my basic question is: are there any ways to cheat/hack/edit characters in
offline Gamecube PSO? Is there a disc you can buy, a place to download saved
games, or anything of that sort.
Thanks,

Why would it suddenly be safe to ask that since the Xbox version is released?
Is everyone gonna stop caring about what you do with your GC version, or
something?

I don't know, buy an Action Replay. They probably have something.
I'm a heavy PSO player but I'm not sure of an answer...but I'd recommend
asking at the www.gamefaqs.com forums. Lots of hardcore player there.
Also, try asking at the alt.games.phantasy-star newsgroup.

There's been claims of duping but I have yet to see one that works. It
involves memory card swappingf at certain time but the claim usually are
followed by lots of whining posts that the attempt resulted in corrupted
memory cards.

Sorry, no. Action Replay have promised not to make any code for PSO and
AFAIK there's no other way to cheat and hack unless you have a GC MC
reader for PC to download and hack game state. (Don't ask me, I don't
know of any at this time)

Actually the XBox version is clearly NOT the version to play online
due to all the cheating. If you want to cheat get the Xbox version.
The GC version is for people you want to play the game probably.
There is cheating in both games.
Thank you.
