Can I take this opportunity, if the official release date for Perfect
Dark in the UK is still this Friday, to gloat about already having a
legit copy as acquired by a friend with good contacts?

Hope I can, let me know if I cannot.

Oh well worth a try and it's great! Exactly the same (well default
anyway) controls as GoldenEye so no learning curve there and the
multiplayer option goes a long way to sating my thirst for options that
were 'missing' (well I wanted them anyway) in GoldenEye multiplayer.

I have to say though you lasted a bit longer in GoldenEye life wise in
the multiplayer... but it's still not as bad as Turok!!!

I haven't noticed a difference in life length from Goldeneye to Perfect
Dark. Then again, I'm constantly getting the survivor award, so that may
have something to do with it... I'm excellent at moving around and dodging
bullets, and I'm an awesome shot when need be (usually), so I've always had
a knack for staying alive in multiplayer deathmatches. That is until the
introduction of PerfectSims and DarkSims. Tuck me in tight, good night! It
was a new experience - I had never had anyone kill me so fast! It's scary
when they program sims better than any human player I've ever played against
before. Strategies are just shot to hell! But I manage.. I did beat a
PerfectSim once. 4-3, I outlasted him in a ten minute battle. And the
DarkSims are easy to beat with the right weapons. They can be very suicidal
at times. Example: If they have rocket lauchers, they will use them. If you
have a Phoenix, you can fire explosive shells at them, and usually your
explosive shell will catch their rocket before it gets to you and blow it up
(if you're shooting right). Anyway.. I need to go start on my Perfect Agent
missions.

I get that a lot. :-) I don't mean to gloat... but I'm proud of myself! And
since this is only the internet and I don't have lasting relationships with
anyone here, it doesn't bother me at all.
