Hello,

I am working on a map and when I hit the playtest button, UT2004
starts it up in Last Man Standing instead of Deathmatch. Is there a
setting I can adjust so that the map starts in Deathmatch?

Thanks,
* Robinson

I think you can use the DefaultGameType setting for this purpose. Open the
map in UnrealEd and then in the "View" menu choose "Level Properties".
Expand the "LevelInfo" node and set the "DefaultGameType" setting to
"XGame.xDeathMatch". Try to playtest the map.

I'll try that. Thanks.

That worked. Now my only problem is that when I go into the map, I
get the countdown and then immediately get the "Press fire to view
other players" banner. I'd like to be able to run around the map and
test the doors like I could in UT99. Is there some other setting I'm
missing?

Thanks,

Hmm you're correct, however I don't know how to avoid this. Maybe we should
forget about the DefaultGameType setting, it may not be the correct choice
in this case. Maybe the game type being chosen by the engine depends on the
last game you have played? Sounds quite unlikely, but at this moment I can't
imaging anything else. I have not worked with UT2003/2004 as much as with
the "original" UT...

I figured it out. I have to escape out and then join the game. After
that, I don't have to escape again until I shut down everything.
Thanks for the help.
