I've tried everything I can think of to advance my lockpicking skill beyond 98.8 to no availe.  Does this just take an atrociously long time, or is it even possible?

-macroing with lockable chest made by GM tinker
-dungeon locked doors
-house/tent chest locks
-inner door locks (the side doors inside a large forge that are lockable)

Is lockpicking of houses possible...I want to know if anyone out there can do it successfully.  I was thinking that you need GM lockpicking to have even a remote chance of picking a house lock.

P.S.....Yes I know the profession is generally frowned upon...don't bother with the flames or other crap, as they will be stoically ignored.  But, if you have information, by all means respond.

Yep I have some info for ya, my friend also thought the same as you, figuring he needed 100 in lockpicking to pick houses, but when he got to about 86.2 or so he finally asked a GM and found out that, no you can't pick houses or the chests in tents.

Now you can strive for that 100 for the hell of it, yes its gonna take a damn long time, but if you really want it, what the hell?

I really hate saying that because of all the time you spent at it, or maybe you macroed.  That's the truth though, believe me if you could pick houses, you would see a hell of a lot more lockpickers around.

That should answer your question.

I think houses used to be able to be lockpicked, but that has since
changed. Otherwise you'd see GM Lockpickers everywhere, and houses would be
virtually nonexistent.

Perhaps lockpicking a house will be possible once the new housing patch
goes in, but I doubt it.

Believe me if he is at 98 lockpicking, he macroed it. I macroed about
10 hours a day for 2 weeks before I got that high. Even though I wasn't
actually sitting at the keyboard, it still seemed like work. I did earn it.

Any skill that you raised to 90+ is going to be very difficult to raise

Lockpicking of houses and tent chests is not possible at this time. I hear
that may change sometime down the road.
